Admittedly, murder mysteries are not my strong suit. Outside of Sherlock, I've read very few.
But, there's opportunity for a little integration I think. We'll see. 🙂
I know my limitations, I'm not even starting a story this time.

Maybe have the stories give clues and the readers say who committed the crime?
