Why are you calling a thought provoking discussion on the moral/ethical points around the situation described a witch hunt?
I personally am trying to better understand how an intoxicated 30 yr old can think it is acceptable to accept an invite to visit a minor and "make out". I've scrambled my brains on many an occasion, and never come close to this.
As fo sed yourself. It's not a nice state of affairs, but it's what we're faced with today.

I was getting intoxicated as I spoke to "her". She asked about the drug I was using and wondered if she should try it, and I told her the truth - it was an extremely powerful, dangerous and illegal drug, and I didn't recommend she ever experiment with it without extensive research and knowing the risks.
Eventually after much persistance she was ab ...[text shortened]... but I didn't care. She said "I think you're a good guy" and then stopped talking to me.

I have yet to see where this so called 'sex chat' is supposed to be, and what the hell Red Night is actually complaining about. 🙁
ATY's problem has nothing to do with this site, so where is the problem? 😕

No, I repeatedly pointed out that I had no intentions of breaking the law, despite "her" blatant advances.
Are you aware that making out with a minor is not illegal?
A. have a sexual conversation with someone you believe to be a minor on the internet.
&
B. kiss a minor (Read CA Penal Code Section 288, Subdivision (a) prohibiting lewd acts with a minor)

And no, you are incorrect, to a degree, sure, with regards to myself more I am not so concerned, but I certainly do have some corcern with regards to adults and minors.

Originally posted by Bad wolfI am glad you agree. Sometimes you don't have to see a problem to know one might very well exist.

Originally posted by rhb(a) Oh really? Please tell me why everyone has concentrated on ATY as if he was the AntiChrist, when the ORIGINAL poster of the actual offensive abusive comment to a minor goes scot free? Would you like to explain this to me? I see he got his post deleted. Big aching deal. I would have banned him from this site for what he said. (And for the slow ones, I'm NOT talking about ATY.)

(b) I'm glad you can agree with me based on principle.
(c) This is why a woman can be brutally attacked and murdered in broad daylight in a residential area and no one comes out to help her. They let her die because it's "easier" to not get involved.
But this isn't even what I meant. What I was talking about is a lot of people crying "look what he did, isn't it awful... he must be some kind of monster" over ATY, when in reality, no one is willing to lift a finger to help those actually being abused. And I don't mean putting yourself in harm's way, either. I mean (1) working at or supporting shelters that have to deal with abused women 365 days a year, or (2) pushing your legislators for tougher sentences on abusers, or (3) not turning your back when you have the means to help someone who has been/is being abused. No one is crying over the REAL victims, like the person the original abusive post (which has long since been deleted, so I guess that makes everything ok) was aimed at. THAT is all I am saying.
