(Text Shortened)Thanks for noticing. I did in fact spent the better part of a weekend walking around the house and neighborhood taking pictures of all those mundane objects and then cutting and pasting. In hindsight I think I could have spent much more time on the individual pictures as many were poorly placed and less then sharply focused. I also regretted placing the pictures on a black background and if I were to attempt such a project again would start buy laying some large pictures in the background and building on top of them. Only the mushroom cloud and ‘Waldo’ were imported, all the rest were shot by me using my little point and shot Olympus D-490. Editing software is mostly the ‘Camedia’ which came with the Camera, Photoshop 2.0 which came with the scanner and ‘Picasa’ a free download and a favorite for viewing and organizing pics. I highly recommend Picasa. Very easy and intuitive, and it’s free! Each has some unique tools but moving from one app to another can be cumbersome. I’m not prepared to spend the hundreds of dollars required for an updated version of Photoshop that would allow me to put all the tools in one box. I am “this close’ to buying a new digital SLR and would like to get something that would allow me to use all my old bayonet mount Pentex lenses. Does anyone know if there is such a thing?
Anyway.. The round was hard to vote for.. I favoured non-scenery pics and did like the extra effort that into amalgamated to show man-made stuff. Wide Angle was wonderful too.

On a separate note. My sincere thanks to Ragnorak for devoting the time and personal resources to running our little club. It’s rekindled and old passion.

I've been checking out DSLRS with a view to using my Olympus lenses but unfortunately they have changed to a new system which sounds like you don't get the same quality out of no digital lenses..
I'm seriously torn between the Canon Rebel 350 and the Nikon D70.
I'm still keeping my OM1 slr and will take a film or two per month. I decided to keep my Fuji Finepix s5500z for a while too. Think I got a couple of nice shots for the natural light round with it...
I'm still using Corel 7...love it but have Corel 12 to install when I get round to it.. my wife loves Piccasa and uses it because it's fast and easy and free. She prefers it to gimp because it is a photo manager as well. Adds though that Gimp is better for photo manipulation.
Originally posted by RagnorakPictures of the green flash would be nice, though. 🙂 (That's one of the light phenomena I still haven't seen myself, but I have seen some great pictures of it.)
BOINGG!!!
We need more photos for the 'Natural Light' round. Just send in any pics where the light is adding something to the pic. No flashes.
Originally posted by RagnorakThis question was a bit short... Are you asking whether the green flash is nordlys? In that case, no. Nordlys are the Northern lights. The green flash is what you can sometimes see at sunset. When the sun has almost disappeared, it will appear green at the upper rim for a moment. Here's a great picture of a green flash, plus a short explanation of the phenomenon: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap021110.html
Nordlys?

For more, google "green flash".

Paulie: I have been wondering for a while, but always forgot to ask - why did you change the colours in your Stonehenge picture? Did you want it to look more mysterious, unreal or something?
I would still like to get some comments on my pictures, especially which version of Temppeliaukio Church people liked best and why.
Your pictures hint at a brilliant piece of architecture, but fail to convey it effectively. I know I’m being harsh. The good news is you can beat up on my pics without fear of offending. I’m thick skinned. 😉 btw (re:amalgamated) did you check out c3po? Is he packing a rod or do you think he is just happy to see lady liberty?
Originally posted by NordlysI'll give it a try. I like the one you entered best, I do find the foreground in the other one confusing. It feels like it's blocking my view, rather than adding to the picture. I like the one where the celing is included better, because it's more of a whole scene.

I do find the people distracting, I think I'd like it better without them. But I understand you can't go about chasing people out of churches.

Originally posted by ictoanBeing harsh is fine with me, harsh but honest comments are much better than polite and meaningless ones. 🙂 I found Temppeliaukio Church really difficult (but also very interesting) to photograph. I think the result is not too bad (most pictures of that church I have found on the internet look much worse IMO), but the pictures are certainly not among my best. I am not sure what I could have done to make them better, though. Any ideas?

Who is c3po? Is that the golden figure on the right of the Statue of Liberty? Speaking of harsh comments, 😉 I don't know what you tried to convey with that picture, but in any case it didn't work for me (which doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work in general, of course). For me, it was just a meaningless potpourri. There's a lot to see if you look for it, but since the picture didn't stir my interest and gave some meaning in the first place, I wasn't really motivated to look for details.
"Lincoln Memorial" was more to my liking, but I think I would have liked it better if the foreground hadn't been pitch black, or if part of the foreground had been cropped.
Originally posted by DdVI would have liked to be there without other people around, but unfortunately it was very busy (some people were quite noisy, too). BTW, did you notice there's a ghost in the picture I didn't enter? 😉 Good point about the ceiling.
