Ragnarok: Can you give us some deadlines (end of this round / deadline for sending in pictures for the next round)? Deadlines are about the only thing which helps me overcome my procrastination...
It has also been suggested before to start a new thread for the next round. I think that's a good idea. Now that the categories and voting system are established, that could be put on the first page of the new thread, and you wouldn't have to repeat it all the time. It would also make it easier to find a post one wants to read again.
Hi there,
I stumbled across this thread on my first time on the forums and I am intrigued. I've just become interested in photography, and I'd quite like to enter the competition or have a look at the entries. I followed the link that was mentioned earlier (http://community.webshots.com/user/rhpcomp) but there were no photographs there.
Could someone help me out please? I don't really want to read through all 24 pages of posts in this thread, but I guess I could if I have to 🙂
Cheers!

I'm not sure if the pictures of the previous topics are still accessible.
A few posts above this one is a list of upcoming topics and an emailadress to sent your entries to (see the post of Ragnorak)

Originally posted by soulbyYes, I was wondering about that, too. The original category was "manmade structures" - was it intentional to take out "structures" to make the category broader? Personally, I find it easier to vote when the categories are not too broad, and "manmade structures" still seems broad enough to get in a lot of pictures.
define manmade:
i would assume anything unnatural
Originally posted by NordlysThe removal of "Structures" was intentional. I don't think removing it broadens the category too much. I was afraid that people would view "manmade structures" as being exclusively a round for photos of buildings, but both "Manmade" and "Manmade Structures" encompass anything manmade, ie: buildings, boats, cups, cities, dams, mills, trains, planes, etc, etc.

From dictionary.com...
struc·ture
1. Something made up of a number of parts that are held or put together in a particular way: hierarchical social structure.
4. Something constructed, such as a building.

Originally posted by RagnorakOkay. Buildings were actually not the first thing which came to my mind when I read "manmade structures". But I don't think everything manmade is a structure. I wouldn't call a candle or a book a structure. BTW, I would really like to see a picture of a hierarchical social structure. 😉

But I don't think everything manmade is a structure. I wouldn't call a candle or a book a structure.
Dropping the "structures" ensures that there is no confusion, as pictures of all manmade things are welcome.
