You imply that someone won't cheat because they are a FIDE referee. My point is that status doesn't necessarily mean that people won't do foolish things.

A cheat would struggle to explain the logic behind moves that were generated for them by a chess engine, whereas a genuine player would be able to put this information forwards.
What's he going to say? "I didn't cheat." How does this advance anything?

How about the fact he's a FIDE REF, which in my book would give him a lot of credibility in my mind, and would explain to me the high rate of engine match up. Like I said before, if your that good, your going to match up on a high basis.

I've never seen a game HE actually played except a few short correspondence ones so his "fan base" is based on his cheating here. If people want to worship a cheat, that's their business.

Scroll down till you get to his name, you see his rating in CC is
about 1900. That doesn't jive with his results here. Very suspicious.

What will happen in the 2005 Champs where he has already got enough points to make the final round? Will the second highest point scoring player in that group progress instead or will no-one make it through from that group?
My uneducated guess would be that Ironman will progress to the next round, but get timed out in his games. Sounds crazy, but these things are all automated and I doubt the site admins will go to great lengths to rewrite the software just to take account of circumstances like these.

NOTHING brought up in this thread wasn't brought up/discussed in the mod forum. Like I said before. This was not taken lightly.
The evidence was solid, overwhelming and came from multiple tools and sources.
It was really quite sad.

I found 6 of his correspondence games from the 80's and early '90's on ChessLab. None last even 25 moves and most are far less (he loses most on them, presumably by time). I found a grand total of 30 non-opening book moves scattered among the six games; he matched up 22 or 73% with Fritz. That's far below his matchups here where he is playing at least 100 games at a time.
EDIT: The names of his opponents are: Schirmer, Frith, Sonntag, Goodman (2) and Berner.
