Really, this thread is bordering on bizarre.
We had people supporting the game mods system to the hilt and now, when the game mods actually do something, all hell breaks loose and people start talking like it's a complete surprise.
They've been working on these cases for ages, and yet some of you are acting like they've randomly picked names out of a ...[text shortened]... you can all worship HIM instead. Especially seeing he can even beat engines as well as humans.
OK, so some people have been banned. But that has gone no way to address the wrongful public accusations of people that have recently gone on, nor the official role of the Game Mods, how should one alert a game, what level of proof is required and how should someone accused go about defending themselves? 😕
This is far worse than my worst nightmares. Has anyone read Franz Kafka's "The Trial"?!

@Gatecrasher - Cool - my question wasn't direct at you, it's just your post prompted the thought 🙂
I've submitted feedback about it and will wait to see what is said.
@everyone who is bickering - Happy bickering tonight folks, it's almost been entertaining. The world will most likely still be turning in the morning 🙂

You'll get a lot less at the privately owned corner store if you go in and tell them how to run their business . Try that there and you'll be shown the door in minutes .
The Genie is out of the bottle. If we're going to do this at all then let's do it properly.
I was in knots about Russ and the mods not addressing the cheating issue some months ago . They said a plan was in place and said something was indeed being done . I'd like to be able to say I had faith that they weren't just giving lip service to this , but I can't . I gave up talking about it in frustration believing nothing actually would be done . To see this happen restores my faith that the owners of this site believe in integrity , fair play , and the game of chess more than money . Was it done perfectly - I don't know . But I don't expect the people I give my fee to to be perfect . I expect them to try their best to deliver what they promise , (which in this case is a site where a fair game can be expected .)
So for the first time in a long time I can say without reservation - Good job Russ and the mods ! Damm fine show !

Yes and I fail to see the relevance.
Originally posted by ExyI predicted this would happen. But would they listen? Oh, no.

Originally posted by ExySo far as I know no one is allowed to make PUBLIC accusations, false or otherwise. I am sensitive to the point that giving info regarding ALL means of detecting cheaters would make it easy to cheat, but wouldn't mind a more detailed description of the evidence (i.e. "based on Fritz's analysis of games X, Y and Z and other facts, player Joe Blow has been found guilty of engine use"😉. I proposed long ago some aspects of due process that would have allowed the accused to be confronted with the evidence against them, but I do not remember Exy supporting such. I believe this would be far more than other sites do, but I'd like to see it.

No1marauder publishes his opinions in a "private" forum at the site (this should never have been allowed to happen). His accusations and evidence that were presented to the OFFICAL Game Mods should have been logged, analysed and acted on and before point of execution the accused should have been allowed a chance to defend themselves. ALL of this should take place privately and only when this process has finished should names be published of those banned.
That's not "my way" it’s the fair and just way.

Ahh Bowmann, I was wondering when you'd grace us with your presence. You seemed content to stay out of the arguement with our dear vladdy, so I knew you'd show up for this one. And If I do recall, you did call him a cheat at one point didn't you
And, no. I don't think so.
Edit: Seems to me that you make up everything as you go along.
