Not that I was expecting to be chosen, but the way Russ totally ignored the voting and then under-manned the mods when there were plenty of keen volunteers available demonstrates just how little he feels about engine abuse and the views of RHP members.
the truth is we have very little idea what exactly they do, and they've made clear it's going to stay that way. i know this is frustrating and not very transparent, but we're not talking about convicting them of a crime.
i see no reason not to trust that russ is taking this issue seriously and dealing with it in a sensible way and not telling us exactly how it all works for a very good reason.
SURELY russ has earnt the right to be given the benefit of the doubt! and the same goes for the gamemods, who must be putting a lot of work in behind the scenes.

No1's forum is there because he held the mistaken belief that nothing was being done to curb cheating at RHP.
Originally posted by GatecrasherIt's also a perfectly factual statement that I sent games to the Game Mods showing IM was a cheat almost 2 months ago. Did it really take that long to determine he matched up almost 100% to a commercially available engine, esp. when someone had told you, me and others that 8 months ago, including the exact engine used! It was subsequently decided that person did not meet the requirements to be a Game Mod despite the fact that he finished second in the voting.

Sounds like you'd be the fourth lemming in line at the cliff.

1. it's just a chess site. i'd be a lot more likely to worry about trusting 'authorities' if the stakes were higher (eg convicting people).
2. the game mods have made clear that they use some covert methods they need to keep secret. that sounds reasonable to me. i would be less inclined to trust them if i thought they were being secretive about things for no reason at all.
why do you think they're being secretive about it?
why do you think they passed some people over for game mods?
do you really think russ just isn't bothered about this issue?

2. Cuz they didn't want aggressive Game Mods. If GEOS had been a Game Mod in January, IM31 wouldn't have cheated in hundreds of games since then, would he?
3. He wasn't at all before last December; he didn't seem to be very much until very recently going by the fact that he had let the Game Mod team slip to only two for several months.

You asked for people to get banned, they've been banned, you asked for the names to be displayed publicly, that's happened also.
So, what is it that you're now crusading for? I'm all ears.
