So Wodka is potatoe -based and should be nutral in tase (Just ethanol and water), but depending on the yeasts used (and a bit on the potatoes) you can get "unwanted" side products. The "nail polishing" taste mentioned probably is from acrolein, which would point to a (ever so small) contamination of the yeats with some bacteria which make the stuff. A knowledgeable distill ...[text shortened]... it out (actually you can using vacuum distillation, but nobody can pay for that when we talk wodka).
