Turn your hand sideways with wrist bent and repeatedly slap it on your chest... now say "Nyarrrrrrrrrrrr" over and over out of the right side of your mouth. Works best when you cross your eyes.

Keep doing it.

If you simply Look at a player named Rookhunter you will see he has a PATTERN of doing this! So far he has timed out on:

How do you know what his motivation is? I nearly always click the skulls too. That's why they're there. I may not if I know someone is trying to catch up from having been on vacation or if they have personal stuff going on. Otherwise, it's click city. A time bank is not only an agreement to move within a certain amount of time but also an agreement to be willing to accept the consequences if you don't. If you prefer a site where you can agree to time limits but those time limits are meaningless because a person can refuse to move for a year or two and the game has no ending, go for it. Live long and prosper. Etc.

I agree, to a point. If someone is in a dead lost position, the right thing to do is resign, instead of prolonging the game. In a 3-day time limit with a 7-day timebank, the guy can move once every 3 days without dipping into the timebank, thus possibly prolonging the game, which he will lose, for months. I had an opponent once who was facing an unaviodable forced mate in 3 and he prononged the game for more than two weeks. True, he's using the agreed upon time control according to the rules, but there should be a way to end that game right now, especially if I message him the forced moves to prove that he is lost.

No way!
If I'm playing someone and that person has to go to the hospital for chemo therapy, I want the option to time them out, no matter the state of the game.

Mr. Thomas,

I understand your frustration. Before I became a member, I grew to loathe games where players drastrically slowed down once they started losing. Back then, blitz was not offered on this site and, as a non-subscriber, I had no way to speed up play in the limited number of games permitted to me.

As you stated, you have learned that this is unacceptable to your future games. You want faster play and make the offer for games with very limited time so as to discourage such behavior.

Unfortunately, it appears that not all of your games have such time limits. As such, it is that player's right to decide how to play within those limits. It is even possible that he has some problem that is preventing him from moving as often as he would like however unlikely you want to accept that excuse.

In addition, always remember that some players will never resign. In their view, where one must mate an opponent, and not merely gain, what is perceived to be an overwhelming advantage, anything can happen (including a mindboggling mistake that will cause a loss for the supposed 'winner' or simply a stalemate when the winner is unable to complete a mate) - though in the game that you show, it appears to be highly unlikely that he will win, you must at least concede that it is possible that you will be unable to mate him.

What you have done, however, is publicly attack the character of a player simply becuase he is not playing how you wish him to play. You have even gone further than this by suggesting that he must be punished for his actions.

As I said, although I sympathize with your feelings that a particular player is merely prolonging the inevitable, you must remember that he has broken no rules and should not be punished. When the game started, each of you agreed to the time limits 3/7 and now you must abide by them - however frustrating they may have become.

I hope you understand.

I'd like to make a point about how this behaviour can affect your ratings.

Say several of your opponents are up in one game but down in the other, they play to finish all their favourably positioned games, but drag out the games where you are winning.
Losing a few games in quick(ish) succession can impact your ratings quite severely (see my Himalayan-esque peaks and troughs for instance!!), and as it is taking you longer to win the other games, even if it is only another 5-10 moves, then your ratings will be affected quite considerably I think.

I just wanted to make that point, now I'll go back under my stone...

By the way, I don't necessarily agree with this behaviour of dragging out games, but I know there isn't much to be done about it so I'm not moaning!

Dear Sir:
I thank you for the obvious time you've taken with your polite answer. As you probably have seen I posted once before, a month ago, and kept the identity to myself. When I checked to see if it were possible this player might be having problems he didn't answer or indeed didn't even open my messages. I am suggesting he should be punished, NOT for playing other than I'd wish in my game, but that he has shown a definate PATTERN of this cowardly and vindictive behavior, not just with me, but with eight others as well! Yes I agreed to what, at the time, I thought were the standard time constraints of this site and didn't know any better. THAT'S HOW LONG THIS GAME HAS TAKEN!! And the way it's going, it could be as much as 12 moves before I can checkmate him! THATS 43 days MORE that this stupid game could sit in my Games page! As far as him getting a draw goes! An OLD joke goes: "And maybe the horse will learn to sing!!!"😀
