did you like "Mystified?" it's a heart-melter. and very unique since you don't get to hear Christine sing much.

Ok I'll check yours out and fyi, keep the posts coming but me personally, I don't do live versions, I like crisp, clean sound. thanks in advance! 😀

Nights in White Satin

Probably my all-time favorite song by probably my all-time favorite band. We had a discussion going at work one time, and one guy asked, "If you were marooned on an island and could have the music from just one band to listen to, who would it be?"

We got the usual stuff. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc.

I unhesitatingly answered, "The Moody Blues."

Here's a GREAT rock song many have never heard. The 12-string guitar is utterly fantastic. Catch it at about 2:30 and prepare for (as one of the viewers commented) an "eargasm."

I actually don't care for that song, but you are wrong about Christine on vocals.
Actually she sang lead on several cuts that were prominent. Stevie and Lindsey
get the bulk of the leads though, this is true. But, to be fair, Stevie's voice
is iconic and unmistakable.

Here are some Christine leads

I grew up cutting my teeth on Black Sabbath. I saw them 5 times in concert in fact.
To me, these are the greatest cuts Ozzy ever did:

I didn't realize until now that this place is chock full of throw back hard rockers and bikers. I wouldn't have expected it on a European chess site, but nevertheless... I can dig it.

Ok, then have a listen to Jethro Tull at its best:

Now again, I admit I was mistaken... but I thought at this European site, a song like this would be very popular.

(And I like it because I can sing it to my LORD and my God)

I had to find it on an obscure website because all the major video websites have a crackly sounding recording... this one is better quality sound.

I'm going to stick with my "obscure" caveat, because posting music that we've all heard a million times doesn't introduce a new song to someone. (no offense intended, obviously anyone can post their favorites or whatever they want)

My mission here is to share (and discover) music that flew under the radar or new music that folks might have never heard.

My problem with old music is the same as my problem with old black and white movies. Today, movies and music are much crisper. Lots of old music has a "cheezy" effect that is so difficult to get past, it diminishes its value.

But this was a great one that never gained a ton of popularity. The melody and the lyrics both are superb.

It makes me laugh to this day that some clueless friends in highschool would come over, look at the album cover, and come away thinking that Cultosaurus Erectus was a bona fide extinct creature.

R.E.M. (from near where I grew up) has so many fantastic songs it's hard to decide. But one of their most recent CD's, UP, for whatever reason just didn't get the attention it deserved, while it contains perhaps my 2 most favorite songs of theirs.

Can someone help me figure out what this song is about? I feel like it's about a serial killer or murderer defending himself in court. If so, who??

Well I guess since I'm on the subject of Michael Stipe, I might as well throw in some Rob Halford.

I draw the line at Queen. Never liked 'em much, apart from We Will Rock You

Some may not know this. Rob Halford had a vocal range of nearly 4 entire octaves which is very, very rare.
