Volume's objectively measured; quality by categories and calibrations aren't.

Few if any OR Assumptions have been made in this thread's OP; a slow demise is trying to occur.

It's boring. It's like going to a nursing home to visit the old folks, but the ones you really want to visit are gone. So you sit around and listen to the "You Are My Sunshine" sing-along, smile a lot, and go home again until next time.

So, Sahuaro, you've got options: swing by to curse the proverbial darkness or light a few candles; maybe now and then, present this forum with a candle holder or candelabra. BYOS: Bring Your Own Sunshine, regardless of your age. -Bob

General Forum Post Mix Comparison: July 30 to August 28, 2013 (Page One)
No Percentage Comparisons. Hard/Sad Numbers only:

"WAG": 23,841 Posts
in Four Threads on RHP's General Forum:
(A-Z Word Association Game; Word Association Game 2; Last letter of previous word - A to Z - Word as...;
Word assoc. Z-A): [24,266 = +425 / 30 Days = +14.2 per day]<---@

"STG": 8,235 Posts in One Thread on the General Forum:
[8,264 = +29 / 30 days = +1.0 per day]<---@

"General Conversation": 1,195 Posts in the twenty five (25) other General Forum threads:
[1,429 = +234 / 30 days = +7.8 per day]<---@

Total Posts: 33,271Posts on RHP's General Forum, Page One.
[33,959 = +688 / 30 days = +22.9 per day]<-----@

Note: This update indicates a further, dramatic decline in Red Hot Pawn’s General Forum member posting volumes in each of the three residual categories above. Thirty posts (30.4) per day a month ago has dropped to an alarmingly low 22.9 total page one posts per day. That, my friends, represents less than one (1) post within each of the 24 hours of a day on average for the past thirty days. Please ponder this situation; and if you’ve got a few potentially active threads in mind, now’s the time to introduce them for the benefit of all parties concerned. ‘If not us, whom? If not now, when?’ Kind regards, Bob

See, that's why I didn't post my answer earlier, because I knew this would be your response. I go where my needs are met and I have something to contribute, where people laugh and joke and have fun, or talk about the serious issues we have in common. I'm not interested in starting some "write a sentence using your username as starting letters of each word" sort of game. There's no generic topic I can bring up that hasn't already been beaten to death in some form or another, unless I go to the specialty forums, where I hang out slightly more than at this one. I was simply answering your question: To me, it's boring because all the things/people that made it exciting are gone.

Sahuaro, I happen to like your tenacity and value your incisiveness. You have the capacity to be one of several to fill the crater like holes which gradually developed over the past few years. Your cynicism, however, concerns me. Nor do I know whether or not you have the grit and patience to undertake a mission with a high risk of incompletion. My own many shortcomings, marks of incorrectness and peccadillos far exceed your own. Curiously, our respective strengths and weaknesses may well be complementary. Start a thread; I'll support the conversation no matter what topic you choose.

Cricket, Facebook, Video games, watching grass grow are all boring to me so what do I do? Don't play cricket, don't do Facebook, don't play video games or watch grass grow. The solution really is quite simple. Participate in discussions you like, play games you like, read books you like. Why would you do otherwise?
Oh and BTW...you will get older. See you're older already.

I've speculated that the people who have criticized this thread's premise may be the same ones who have provided its many thumbs down; also, that the negative criticism is coming from those who seldom if ever start a thread of their own. Hmm...

Seems as if threads are made to be broken. Themes drift about like spider-webs in a breeze. This might cause the author of a thread some frustration, but is not this exactly what happens in a group of people who are chatting? My main gripe is that I have something to share, and someone changes the subject before I have a chance to finish.
