Only an imbecile would get worked up over an online, gender segregated tournament where there is no way for competitors to even prove their gender.
1) that the general membership can not be trusted, that people will lie about their gender, and therefore anyone who wants to sponsor a tournament for the girls is an imbecile... OR
2) nobody should sponsor anything at RHP and/or if they do, they should not care about the event.
In either case, I just lost a lot of respect for any of your opinions...

Then there's the unintended hilarity of your posts. You ended up psycho-analyzing the whole male gender, yammering on about abuse victims and wannabe rapists, etc. Over a chess tournament! LOL
And you have the nerve to call others imbeciles? πππ

Arrakis was trying to do something constructive. A fair few female players liked the idea.
To try and make him the villain is ridiculous.

Originally posted by dottewellYou wouldn't villify someone who fell for the Nigerian scam, but you would question their judgment. This tournament is simply an unworkable idea for this venue. As far as you know, some of the alleged 'females' are actually male. Nevermind the vocal male forum protestors, who are the least of the worries, because they reveal their intentions openly.

Originally posted by BigDoggProblemSo your point is that because some men might be SECRETLY playing in a tournament for women, it's fine for others to OPENLY do so?

I would say both are equally in the wrong.
Yes, it can't be policed. It depends on good will and honesty among the RHP community. I would like to believe that good will and honesty exist, at least in the majority of cases.
It is clearly not unworkable. What you mean is that some people will lie while others will deliberately try to wreck something just because they can.
I will continue to say those people are wrong.
And as to the idea that the "vocal male forum protestors" are standing up for non-discrimination - well, please. They are doing it either because they are sheep or because they think it is amusing. I would be very surprised if they stand up for equality away from RHP. Doubtless they are too busy browsing porn.
Originally posted by dottewellWhat I'm saying is that 'silent males' are an even bigger problem for the tournament, even though the vocal ones have drawn more attention. An idea becomes unworkable when it is too easy for a deceitful or silent few to wreck it.

I think you mean 'status quo' instead of 'standard quo'. You should at least brush up on the verbiage a bit before going on one of your wild psychoanalytical tangents.
I hate to break it to you, but the idea of a 'women's only' tournament isn't very original. The US women's championship used to be that way, before AFC took over.
You have quite a knack for constructing posts where every single assertion in them is wrong.

even play in tournaments could declare himself to
be such an authority on them.
