I really don't know who the sissies are. There are two separate tournaments, so the ash grey t-shirts will be sent to myself and have "1st Place 2006 Ladies Open" imprinted on them and then mailed to the winner.

It really annoyed me that some *******'s could be so small minded as to actually play in this tournament, and yes Suzzanne was correct in pointing out that the guys who joined for a joke put some females off from signing up too.. I messaged one of them who claimed to play in the same otb league as me. Bizarrely he not only played in the same league, but also the same division, but also played me in the last match! (bearing in mind I am new to otb and only played 2 league games this is one hell of a co-incidence) It turns out he didn't fully understand (he saw a load of guys in and thought it was a joke) and offered to withdraw but I said it would probably be more detrimental to the tournament. Not all of them are innocent though there is at least one dickhead who was claiming it was sexist, I will not mention any names though...doh!

I predict women will win both sections.
WHY am I saying they ruined the tournament? WHY??

This is a so-called "Ladies' Open" where the majority of entrants are guys. The only way this tournament would NOT be ruined is if ALL the entrants were women. I'm sure this was the original idea, and by letting the guys play, it makes a mockery of the whole idea. And that's why I say it's ruined.

I don't care if every guy in the tourney gets beaten in round one (even so, this can't happen because over half the entrants are guys), it is *still* not a "Ladies' Open"!

Look, Arrakis, I like the idea, and I do not begrudge you for continuing to play cheerleader for it, but I only wish it could have been done in such a fashion as to only include women.

Germaine Greer was right when she talked about men hating women.
I believe around 90 percent do, at least from the posts I see here.
If all the women could see the way men actually feel and talk about women, overpopulation would cease to be a problem.

Homer, if we played OTB I would beat you blindfolded.

I anticipate that several of my opponents will be cheating with a computer in order to "win".
After all, they are openly cheating by playing in a Ladies tourney to begin with.
And bragging about it in the Forum.
Chess was once an honorable game.

HA!!

So true, on every count...

Even if men don't out-and-out hate women, they certainly treat them as less than equals, which is just as pathetic.

Even just a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T goes a long way, guys...

I suspect that the real reason some men hate women is because those individuals were raised in an environment where their mother was abused and dominated by their father. Put this environment together with a male who has strong sexual urges but finds women turn him down for sex - and a monster is created. 😲

This stuff goes pretty deep... from the abuser and rapist, to the male who feels the need to beat women at chess. All varying degrees of the male's psychological illness.

There are a number of female friends of mine who quite like playing chess, but are always put off by the competitive, adolescent, or "I want to be an alpha male" behaviour of male chess players. The intervention of some male players in this tournament is not going to provide reassurance to them that RHP isn't just yet another boy's club...

no trust me there's a big difference between the 2 of you. For example, he entered as a joke making a statement about joining the tournament for sexist reasons, you bought into it and followed in just like a sheep. he was put in the position where it was extremely diffucult to pull out of the tournament, but did so anyway, cos it was the right thing to do.

Yes. Xanth was between a rock and a hard place, but, all of his own making. My threats of revealing his personal details against his resolve to remain in the tourney was coming to a head.

Be assured, those details were loaded on a private site, and a Google search would have taken you there, but Russ intervened with a request for the " incorrectly gendered " entries to withdraw.

Xanth complied, to his credit, but it was a 'face save' out for him.

In balance, I received a censure from Russ regarding my forum behaviour, which left no doubt about what would happen if I pursued this course of action.

My very laboured point is that XanthosNZ did not withdraw from a 'girls only' tourney, because it was the "right thing to do".

He did so because his position had become untenable, and the fact that I could not pursue this any further.

Speaking of untenable positions how about that moon landing?

PS. I publically stated that I would withdraw if the site admin asked for it near the very beginning.

I checked in on the two Ladies Open tournaments and saw that the boy creeps who entered their event are GETTING THEIR BUTTS KICKED!
Hahahahah 😵

These poor, stupid boys have made it a PERMANENT RECORD! Yes, it's a matter of RECORDED HISTORY now! I hope their male friends never let them forget that they got STOMPED by the ladies, entering an event they didn't belong in. 😀
