Well he was clan leader of Twin Peaks - the only clan I wanted to belong to - now he has gone in such circumstances - the enjoyment of playing on this site is, for me, all but gone.... I know Exy wasn't cheating - he was just a victim of a wild accusation by someone with a chip on his shoulder and no life, and some circumstantial evidence.

This information is most shocking and disappointing indeed.
Can we request some comments from the game mods please?
I have had some games with Exy and we chatted along the game and it was very interesting and enjoying..

I am new, but this is one of the few times, checking the list, I disagree with the mods dicision. It's sad, really, I was debating whether or not I should subscripe to play 10 games simul instead of 6 (yes, a costly thing just to play a few more games), but after this, and looking at my p rating, and looking at Exy. I see/know the mods are looking at guys like me all the time and I'm worried I'll get booted even though there is no way in he** my playing style/technique can be that of an engine! So the idea of actually paying will be on hold, for now.

My quick comments regarding Exy's chess playing, is the guy knows crap about openings (IMHO) and is ROUTINELY inconsistant. That is to say, he's not inconsistant like say, a player that's usually 1400, losing to players around that rating, then suddenly jumping to master status at a consistant level like some wacky sporatic improvement. Exy, since joining RHP, has been winning against experts, losing to newbies, losing to experts, winning to newbies, win, lose, draw, you didn't know what to expect. In the end, he won more then he lost while playing so many games simul, despite the inconsistantcy, and that made him consistantly a high rated player overall. The guy honestly looks like the most HUMAN 2000 rated chess player I ever saw. I often don't understand the logic in his games and just how he wins, I guess that's his liberal human side that shows when it comes to chess.

This does look very FISHY, and I wonder what engine he could possibly be, as I've never seen an engine like that!

In fairness, I agree with all the other dicisions, and it's sad, because this makes all the paranoids against the cheating mods have a little more juice. The ones caught until now, it's obvious, in fact, I'm upset right now that many other obvious ones didn't get the boot before booting someone controversial like Exy. Was the guy, maybe, using multiple nicks and they goofed what letter to attach to his name as rule breaking?

I'm not judging one way or the other though would say that I find it hard to believe Exy was cheating but then I felt the same with Ironman31 too.

However, the ban doesn't mean that the mods think he cheated in every game or even in every move in any game.

I am a lowly rated player and even I would agree that his openings were not that great. In playing him, I was surprised to find myself sailing along with him quite evenly for a short time before I suddenly found myself in a hopeless position. Of course, it may be that I just couldn't see his strategy or it may be that he didn't concentrate too much at the start.

This was a shock to me as well but as it's been said here I'm sure the mods didn't take this lightly. Sure Exy was only about a 1900 player on average and sometimes spiked to 2000, but all that could mean is that he was a smart one, and somebody caught him. He probably didn't fire up his "guide" very often but the fact is it that he probably did, some of the time which is still good enough to get booted. I believe all this does is just lower the rating of possibly cheaters. Most of us were probably looking at the 2200's and then Exy came walking in and shocked us all. Just makes us have to be more careful for who we report, for all we know, the 2200 guy we might report is a clean player and the 1750 we left alone might be the cheater.

Some people play crappy openings deliberately to stay out of book lines.

And some people (I guess) would not use an engine in every game they play, only in some, and not on each move in a game, but only on some. So that would explain that someone can play a crap opening, because he would only use the engine when in trouble, or when he doesn't want to think or some other reason.

If this is true, it rises even more the question what method the Mods use, because it seems really difficult to establish the proof in this kind of situation..

But, for now, I believe the Mods. I like this site and have no reason to believe that the Mods would take this kind of a decision lightly.

I still enjoy playing on this site and am not worried that the accusations will fly around wildly and that people are getting banned for no reason.

Strange...he was a likeable witch. He helped me milk the cows and when my baby got sick. Just seems like you never know when a witch is in your midst. But of course the village fathers know what they're doing or they wouldn't be in charge, right? Gee, I hope they're not scanning the forums too...

That's exactly why Exy played his unorthodox openings. He told me so himself...
