It is true :-)
Tebb beat Kasparov in a simli.
If you shortened Kasparov's time enough anyone could beat him. However I think with him at 5 minutes and me at an hour a move I'd lose.

All im trying to point out is that its not as though most people cant play good chess, it just takes some longer than others. Of course theres a limit to how good a certain person can be, but the more time you spend on a move the better it will be.
Originally posted by GrayeyesofsorrowI agree. If I ever get the chance to play a titled player I'll keep it in mind. Although that's not likely to happen. Only a couple of FM's in NZ.

ALCRA I think you are mentally disabled as you do not get my point chess has no boundaries. Obviously you have never been to many chess tournaments where able bodied so called normal chess players are playing chess, I did not ask you to be P>C but you certainly are stupid see your own post for proof.
And too GREYFORSORROW you should change your name to SPEAKBEFORITHINKGREY. My quote you reffered too about chess languishing in th ghetto, is actually a quote from Garry Kasparov himself. The very man You and xanthos N.Z have been verbally masturbating about .This is a discussion about sport and what it means if you want to start your own anorak ,upyourself discussion I suggest you do it somewhere else.
See www.turowski.com/chess for proof of the Kasparov quote.
Chess is a sport and as of yet no one has come up withany convincing argument against.
Life and True sport is about is about Intellegent movement that is why chess is the embobiment of this more than any other sport.
To seek the perfect game.....

Are you actually ever going to play some chess at RHP, or just troll the forums attempting to start flame wars? Most people here are really getting sick of your ilk; these forums are for the players at RHP not for any internet idiot to barge in and start insulting people. So get on your steed and hit the road, White Knight!!

..... Chess should be in the proper Olympic games ....
chess suffers from fifteen million different stupid claims of "world championship" ... this will never end ... we still know kasparov is the best (at traditional timelimits and rules) ... but this will soon change and we will no longer know who is best.
chess needs a forum where the ground rules are set by a reasonbly independent body that lets all the best come and find out who is the very best.
.... chess needs the olympics.
the olympics lets all humans compete against each other in every way shape and form ... and find out who is the best ... well almost ...
... the olympics needs chess.

Chess certainly doesn't need the drug testing that came with the attempt to get IOC recognition. I'd prefer to see the Mindsports Olympics take off rather than think about chess as a pure sport - it simply isn't.
Thankyou quack quack quack somebody with vision. At last, why are you lot so negative. Greyfor sorrow loves Kasparov then calls him a prick The wich from salem is nothing but negative and has added nothing to the argument. I am here to discuss if you dont like it dont comment or ignore this thread..// i am not asking for a foolish debate but a sensible debate. If you cannot say anything constructive, start your own thread. I will play chess when I choose. Were over 18 and have all got choices so lighten up. Name a better sport than chess ?????? I want to be disproved.... The white knight who works for the light has spoken................................

Your argument for drug testing does not stand up either, aprt from the fact there is no known drug that could improve cognotive thinking or your chess .What is the problem, you just have to get your head around it. If other atletes and competitors in sport can deal withit so can chess players, you will probably never be asked to give a urine sample in your life, however a top player might, and if they are getting well paid as a chess proffessional and making their living out of chess shouldn't we ask them if they object. Im sure the majority will be happy to do so....................

And before i forget , Osse should be aware as other chess players should that chess is recognised by the IOC as a potential Full medal Olympic sport it is just down to Chess players and FIDE to get its own house in order
How comes I do not see Synchronised swimmers moaning that they have to have a drug test or name any other sport in the olympics i never hear any one complaining apart from chess players who've never given a urine sample in their life...............
Why is that then pray tell........................
Originally posted by The whiteKnightWhat would chess gain by being part of the Olympics? It certainly wouldn't get TV coverage. What is the point in bowing to all the IOC rules and regulations if chess doesn't gain anything out of it?

I thought you kiwis were bright. Ofcousre it would get more TV coverage, ofcourse it would get more sponsorship and its not bowing to any rules its adhering to rules that are observed by hundreds of sports already in the olympics, so where is your argument ...Does everybody at RHP just talk emotionally without any real thought into what they are saying....
