Of course it's an accusation. For some reason, he seems to think that players should be the same rating after a few games OTB as they are after hundreds of games CC, using two completely different rating pools.

Which proves absolutely nothing dear sir, can you provide me with some sort of direct relationship, can you show me where he said this? i don't believe this, all of his statements otherwise seems to indicate that he clearly understands that there is not reliable relationship between OTB ratings and online gamesite computer chess ratings. Seems like a case of sour grapes to me.

You don't pay attention. I said a 600 + difference is suspect, not saying some couldn't accomplish it if they haven't played an OTB game in ages, but if they have played recently....I see no way that OTB would be 600 + points lower than the CC rating !!! Also that it should be looked into in every case that is known !!

And I am talking about an established OTB Rating...Not just a few games as you have claimed !

I don't see where this is leading, if it's all the same to you.

(Shrug) Anybody, including the Game Mods, can look into it all they want.

I thought it would have been much worse than that.

I have always thought I was overrated on here, but I guess you are rated what you are rated. I was very surprised at the strength of my OTB opponents, especially in terms of opening theory, an area I knew I would struggle with due to the lack of database and good memory.

I would have won the KG gam ...[text shortened]... riment of his tactcs/strategy was incorrect and has now adapted the way he plays on here.

The 5th Round forfeit won't count in your ratings. You had a positive score against 1300's, so your rating has to be higher than 1300. After looking it over, I had thought your 6th round was a draw when it was a win. So the Ratings Estimator gives this performance as a 1418.

Judging by the number of complaints we received about that user, it seems the whole RHP community was convinced he was a cheat. This is the same community, by the way, that was convinced that "Jean Herbert" was the real deal (ie not one complaint received, despite being rated 2360 and having won virtually all his games).

Overwhelming evidence beyond reasonable doubt is the required standard at RHP. It has to apply in every case. It can't be lowered by the volume of complaints received nor by the volume of the baying for blood.

I cannot say that the player in question was not a cheat. He may have been. I can only tell you that the game mods performed a very thorough investigation and the required standard for banning was not reached.

Thats the problem - people tend to make categoric claims about things they don`t understand.

This thread is still continuing. Sad. Move it to general forum if not destroy it.

I wonder if that is the reason now that they "REALLY SUSPECT." when someone is 2300 plus, or 2100 + even just to pick numbers, is because of this "Jean Herbert" ?
Must have been before my time, I don't recall the name.

I been busy as you can see playing in tournaments, I came out of forum hibernation to see what all the commotion was about. I will probably go back into hibernation soon, and stick to the chess. I still don't care much how the Forum Moderation works 😀
Hopefully it has worn off, I feel like I am back around where I was when I was playing in (OTB) matches 🙂 Hope you get a chance to read this before it gets yanked, I probably said a few things that don't belong in this forum 😉........My Bad !!!
I did notice you were in the mid 1700's there for awhile.....Good Job !!
Your game seems to have really improved in the past year !

it was in the beginning of 2006 I think, before your time. he even did analysis in public, which went throught without problems. he was quite convincing, at least to a beginner like I was back then.

like many others, I couldn't believe he wasn't the real thing, and emailed the real jean hebert to find out for sure. he hadn't even heard about rhp.

Yes, I am sure some people can be quite convincing. Not only the RHP public, but obviously the game mods themselves thought he was ok to huh ! Probably best not to answer that one 😀
