Cheating accusations, specifically naming users, are not acceptable in the forums.
Would bringing the attention of a steeply rising graph such as User 363314 (already banned) to the forums be an allegation of cheating?

When does showing a steeply rising graph become an allegation of cheating?

If I say look at how well User 363314 is doing is that a cheating allegation?

However is I say look at this B's graph User 363314, wonder what engine he is using?

Accusations of cheating don't belong in the forums.

Evidence of suspected cheating should be sent via Site Feedback.

Really? Then why bother paying a membership if you don't mind playing a chess program...Just play the chess program seriously !!
I played 30 games agains erice1 and lost 29 of them....The only reason I didn't lose the 30th is because he got banned...NO, playing against a chess engine is not my idea of "FUN TIMES" !!!

Too bad a thread like this gets so many posts whereas when a strong player such as Stephane annotates a game, his thread only generates a few comments. Yes I did not comment on the game either but the game and comments to me made the game relatively straightforward and I am fairly ...[text shortened]... nternet is partly what the forums are about. The camaraderie is ok, now more chess ideas! 🙂
I agree.

I've resigned my remaining clan games. Permission given from Peakite 🙂
I'd like to post this last post to thank all of you for 3½ fantastic years on this site. I've played hundreds of different opponents here and almost all of you were very polite, enjoyable and knowledgable. I couldn't ask more from any chess opponent online or OTB.
When I look back from where I am now there's not much I would have done differently - not much I regret through the last 3½ years.
Allow me to run through my time here...

I was almost immediately interested in tournament play and clan play. After joining a few tournaments I realized that to be succesful in this area you need to adopt the right tactics: You can do some serious sandbagging and join banded tournaments or you can join unbanded tournaments last minute to make sure you won't have too strong competitors for the tournament win.
I chose the latter. And in most cases I also prefered long time controls to be able to manage my game load. I was very inspired by flexmores Tournament Players Hall of Fame thread Thread 19033 and since his point system favoured long hauled tournaments this was an obvious way to go for me. I won LOTS of tournaments, but it was very hard work and I stopped joining tournaments a year ago to keep my game load down (site championships and a few thematics being the exceptions from the rule)
Clan leagues were launched only shortly after I had gathered a full squad for The Vikings clan Clan 263. I agreed with no1marauder that the original clan challenge system was an insufficient measurement of clan performance. His LCCSS (Lame Clan Challenge Scoring System) postings are legendary. I enjoyed them very much.
The Vikings supported the clan leagues from the very beginning (late 2004) and is clearly one of the best clan league clans today.

Engine use was a hot topic in late 2004/early 2005. I was fairly new to the site and I didn't pay too much attention to all the forum activity at that time. I didn't really take too much notice until Arrakis messaged me and told me that one of the players in my clan was a cheater. I was surprised and also annoyed about someone sending PM's regarding cheating. History seems to repeat itself, doesn't it? I realized that something had to be done to avoid this kind of behaviour so I personally welcomed Russ' decision to launch a game moderation team. I didn't know any of the self nominated players in the 2005 vote. But I decided to vote anyway. I voted for David Tebb, Grayeyesofsorrow and TRACKHEAD 21!! Not a very good choice, but what did I know?? My voting here is definitely one of the things I regret. Fortunately Russ didn't follow "my advice". He wisely chose only David Tebb from my top 3. I can't stop thinking that some voters in the recent game mod vote were just as ignorant as I was then. Surely there were...! Again, history repeats itself.

I never suspected IronMan31 of cheating although I played 10 games against him. The eye opener for me was the first official bannings in sept 2005 of excactly IronMan31 and a few others. After that I was much more aware of probable cheats. And I think the game moderation team of that time did a VERY good job. They had to work very hard and for many, many hours to provide enough evidence for the site admins to ban cheaters.

I was more and more engaged in the site through 2005/2006;
I lead a succesful clan, I won many tournaments, I played lots of games, I coded a clan CMS system to keep track of member performance of a clan (used by clan Denmark and The Vikings). I launched a new tournament for clans: The Vikings Challenge Cup, I sponsored a few tournaments, I created the Clan Leagues Hall of Fame website.
All in all, I spent LOTS of hours on the site every day...

Summer (autumn??) 2006 David Tebb left the game mod team and after a few months I asked Gatecrasher how much work was required to be a game mod. His answer was not discouraging, so I asked Russ and Chris if they'd accept me as a game mod as I felt I could give even more to the site. They accepted me.
The next year or so I had an excellent cooperation with Gatecrasher in the game mod team. I think we did a good job. A lot of players were banned, but there were also a lot of players given the benefit of the doubt.

Chess wise I reached my peak when I very unexpectedly won the 2007 Championship. Not only was it unexpected, some of my games were spectacular as well. I played up to, and at times above, my ability!
I figure many players have analysed the games of that particular tournament. David Tebb certainly did. He reported me for using Fritz to make my moves! Ironically enough, I was reported shortly after starting out my blog where I actually commented on every single 2007 championship game!

After the rumours started flying in the forums about me being reported for engine use (and to many I was apparently even guilty already!) I decided to leave the site and stop posting in the forums. I chose to start posting the facts on my blog instead. This move was of course to avoid forum moderation. I wanted all RHP players to know what really had happened. I knew all too well that lots of PM's had circulated already and private clan forum postings had been posted, so there was no other way to let everyone know the truth...
Btw, all my postings and game annotations and Fritz analysises are still available at my blog for all new game mods to use as evidence against me if they wish. I haven't removed or edited anything in any posts there since I have nothing to hide - I never used an engine to assist me in making my moves!

What I regret the most is my overall commitment to the site because it makes it harder and more emotional for me to leave now...On the other hand, the experience of playing here would not have been the same without my commitment...After all, I've had a lot of great games, many chats and made a lot of friends in here.

Thanks for a great time here and best of luck in the future to the site admins and all supporting players of the site!

Goodbye.

Goodbye.
Thank you for all your efforts over the years and although we have never played I am sorry to see such an active and committed member depart the site.

As far as the recent allegations go I have no idea if they are true or false but they are only that allegations and the fact that you have not been banned would indicate at the present moment their is no conclusive proof.

I therefore find it rather distressing that a long term committed member has been hounded out of the site my such rumours.

I have no complaints about the few people who PM'd me before the news broke regarding this position as I think discussions in private on the possibility of cheaters is perfectly acceptable as long as it does not cross a line and become a witch hunt which I feel happened here.

I think a little less in the way of public accusations is necessary if we are not to lose a lot more valued members of this site and the forum mod team need to jump on them. Perhaps an automatic 1 month forum ban for any cheating accusations, 6 months for a repeat and a permanent ban for a 3rd offense. If this were then to continue with PMs a total banning from the site should be considered.

I thought PM meant Private Message. If this is so, then who is reading PRIVATE messages from one player to another and looking to ban people for them.
