I thought that was a pen name just like all the other Ringo Starr's/Elvis Presley's on the internet. I have seen a 1200 rated Kasparov here but that is off course not the real Kasparov.

However his sign off is incorrect!!

It should be

By Queen...
By Rook...
By Pawn...
Bye Bye!

and not

By pawn...
By Rook...
By Queen...
Bye Bye!
I sometimes post my real name around the forums, but Joey Cage is my chess name and my preferred internet alias.

My sign off is taken from an 80s film called 'The Mutilator' - which had the tagline:

By Pick...
By Axe...
By Chainsaw...
Bye Bye!

It can work either way - I have used both before - but I prefer it the way it is - in order of ascending piece strength.

Was it? Where do you find this info, I can't find it anywhere on the site - only speculation. 😕

There is a starting point for anyone who uses an engine, be it for blunder checking or whatever. But how do YOU know when or if it goes beyond that?
When somebody accuses a player in the forum, or pm's you with an accusation or gossip?
And then the bandwagon is hauled out of storage again.
Interesting. 🙂

Correct me if I'm wrong but the way I interprete the postings from you in the last 36 hours you seem to defend English Tal. Why??

It's not defence, it's looking at it as a person who just treats chess as a game, my major pastime lays elsewhere. So I'm seeing all of this from a different angle to a lot of the posters here.
You seem to be following my posts rather closely. So I return your question - why? 🙂

It's "speculation" to say that a player banned for using an engine was using an engine?

If you read the first line of my post, I am asking where the info is now on who is banned for what reason? I thought the list had been removed and I can't find it. How does anyone know for sure why somebody has been banned, or is it speculation? 😕

I suggest you purchase a dictionary. Saying a very high rated player who got suddenly banned was banned for engine use is a logical inference strongly supported by prior experience, not "speculation".

Don't need a dictionary, thanks. An English MA serves me well enough to understand what I am reading. 😛

Here even his friend publicly disowned him for "cheating" read the posts by Tyranorex. There is evidence from 100% matches with Fritz and his friend claims he used engine in some games and you can see him losing games without engine help. His friend claims he is 2100 in real life. Let me ask you the following :-

- why would someone get up to 100% matches with Fritz?
- why would someone be good enough to win the site championship but then also lose games to people rated 1900? Winning the championship is like 2400 performance, losing to a 1900 is within bounds of a 2100.

I have doubts about cludi...why would someone go so mad and create sooooo much texts and analysis on his own site if he was cheatting? I thought the cheaters do not care much...

Almost all the people booted off for cheating have been anonymous. Cludi never made any secret of what his real name was, so the stigma would have attached itself to his real identity.

Plenty of people guilty of the most heinous crimes protest their innocence until the bitter end. Some say that this is because they have convinced themselves that they didn't do it, some simply think they hold hold out some hope of being freed. Personally I think it usually because they don't want to face those closest to them as a guilty person and prefer to play the role of a martyr who has been unjustly convicted. The best example I can think of without Googling is James Hanratty, the A6 rapist and murderer, who claimed he was innocent until the moment he was hanged. So convincing was he that his family campaigned for thirty years for a posthumous pardon, until DNA evidence proved it was definitely him.

this makes me to again start wandering...

no relation to previous, but
maybe they should just allow centaurs on this site and just to ask these users to menstion this in their profile notes...I would not mind to know...
Actually to be "around 2900-3000" with engine you need:

1) Serious computer, as in home PC/laptop you are unable to use all possibilities of your engine.

2) Spending more than few secs per move (like many fast-movers probably did).
