1) Serious computer, as in home PC/laptop you are unable to use all possibilities of your engine.

2) Spending more than few secs per move (like many fast-movers probably did).
do you agree that best RHP level is higher than the WCh level ?

At least some unbanned player have showed very high level, playing without any tactical mistakes. And even World champions are not 100% perfect in tactic.

But that guy is obvious centaur - engine users which have showed zero chess knowledge has obviously lower level.

Don't forget some of these guys are not buffoons at chess. Do you have a link, assuming the material is not objectionable?

- why would someone get up to 100% matches with ...[text shortened]... inning the championship is like 2400 performance, losing to a 1900 is within bounds of a 2100.
Is this the same T'chex that appears to have a forum ban for making public accusations?

Anyway, it seems that nobody here is able to answer my question about where the official notifications of 3b bans are, so I will leave you all to get on with your chess.

Thanks everyone 🙂

At the 2nd Annual Saratoga Open (held about 20 miles north of where I live in March of this year), Glen Gausewitz, an area player rated 1922, beat GM Keith Arkell, rated 2563, in a G/60. So it can happen.

You seem to be following my posts rather closely. So I return your question - why? 🙂
Haven't been on the site for very long. Enjoy reading the forums.
As I read your defence of an engine user I checked other posts of yours and found that you - on several occassions - posted posts "in favour" of English Tal. Then I asked you the simple question why?

You didn't answer my question at all, other than saying that you treat chess as a game. Why then support a person who used an engine in his games??

Are we considering hanging 3b violaters now ? Would certainly stop them rejoining under a different id.

I once saw a 1500 player beat a then 2400 player in a serious OTB
Congress game. It happens.

I'm rather friendly with the IM so I won't reveal his name on here
but I'll PM you.

I think it's OK to hang foreigners. There's no shortage of them.

As for the very occassional English player caught cheating (I can recall only one, English Tal, and he was probably half Latvian). They are obviously inherently honest, but sometimes forget that the World looks up to them and resort to using the same underhand tactics that are so commonly deployed by Johnny Foreigner. I think a suitable punishment for them would be to be barred from the RHP site for a day or two. The stigma this would involve is at least equivalent to death by hanging for one with no social standing.

In Thread 103865 English Tal was given a sendoff Cheater cheater pumpkin eater. I don't think English Tal ate any pumpkins, it was probably phatboy who did.
