It's a 3a: User 445874 and User 448162.
There seem to be a few more: User 446871 and User 446935

But in this case just look at the first games of the candidates...
Edit: Gambit05 beat me to it...

I am shocked with "sea devil" banning...."mgbal" involment in cheating was also disappinting. What if any of these two are innocent.?What about there years of hardwork in that case? Can they appeal aganst there banning?
I like the suggestion I read yesterday in one of the deleted threads (I am sorry that I cannot recall the author). He or she suggested exile to a punishment clan called "The Leper Colony" where they could match their chess engines against each other in unrated games. 😀
Quite a bit of the Mikado about that solution.
My object all sublime
I shall achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime;
And make each prisoner pent
Unwillingly represent
A source of innocent merriment!
Of innocent merriment!

Nice! That is one less cheat to skank me in the 2008 finals.
I lost to shane once too, and thought he came accross as a bit of a cheat.

Sudden improvements, whether from 1300 to 1700 or from 2100 to 2400 are strongly indicitive of cheating and warrant automatic investigation in my opinion.

Perhaps he wasn't reported for 3 years.
Again, detecting some engine use is harder than other engine use. Just glad it was finally detected. There are no 'magic wands'.
Had you any damning info 5 years ago, I hope you sent it.

His OTB games at the British were weird. I went over one game which proved to be nineteen or so moves of theory! But some of his blunders / bad decisions were the sort you'd expect a much weaker player to see. I think he just lost his nerve after the first few rounds and was beatable by just about anyone.
