i looked at the game, its crap anyone can take a piece with double check and the Nh5 combo is not so incredible. So much fuss over this?
I've played 21 games and i've already had better games/combos than this.
Game 2213221
and a nice 5 move combo starting from 27...Bxg3 in this game
Game 2208902

Originally posted by FabianFnasI sometimes post games in progress (my own or someone else's) in the private forums, for example when we talk about a league or challenge. I always add something like "no comments please, game in progress". I don't see any problem with this.
Couldn't TOS be extended with a rule 3d or something:
"Do not refer or comment on any game in progress in any contact, such as in forum, mail or otherwise, with other members in RHP."
Most of us obey this rule, and understand the meaning and reason of it. Why not put this unwritten rule in writing. Then the problem is solved and this kind of threads will not exist anymore.
Originally posted by NordlysIt's a tricky one, though; obviously your intention is not to seek advice, but what if someone responds with advice (even though you have asked them not to)? And what if you see at least some of that advice (even though you didn't want to)?

They would not have advised had you not posted.
The rules could be clearer on this point.
Originally posted by dottewellWhat if someone gives advice even though I have not asked for it and have not posted the game? It's quite common to look at the games of clan mates, whether they post the game or not. If clearer rules were added, I think it would make more sense to forbid giving advice than to forbid linking to a game in progress.

keeping in mind that you are sitting in your own home no one can see what you do we are forced to rely on the honor system. Its not like posting on the forums is the best or easiest way to cheat. I'm not saying it should be done i'm just saying trying to stop it is just not gonna work. If you see someone posting their game in progress, and it bothers you that much, PM their opponent and let him take it up with the offender/RHP. It doesn't happen that often, so its not like a crisis.
But it's not just a matter of "using the forums to cheat." If someone posts their game in progress they are almost certainly going to get advice whether they are seeking it out or not.
You just can't count on people to know not to comment on games that are posted. They may not realize that the game is still in progress, or they may comment without thinking about it. But odds are they will comment.
And once comments have been made, the game's outcome is potentially tampered with. So if we want to forbid giving and receiving advice on games in progress, it makes perfect sense to forbid posting games in progress on the forums.
Originally posted by XanthosNZThat's very helpful of you Xanthos, thank you very much. I have learned a lot about the English language from you. It should have been you're instead of your. (you already told me this once 😳) I have you rated as one of the most intelligent people on this site. And that says a lot on a chess site!
If you wish to be taken seriously I suggest you use the correct form of your in future.

Where didn't you understand the text?
I know your mother tongue (and a few others) better than you know mine, don't I?
Seriousity has nothing to do whether or not I write 100% perfect English. If that was the case, most postings here, written by you or many others, would be considered not serious.
This is a site about chess, not grammar nor spelling. Didn't you know that?
In Swedish we have a saying - "Språkpoliser läser ord utan att förstå, alla andra läser och förstår ändå!"
Just so you know.

Språkpoliser am reading text devoid that understand , all second am reading and am comprehending yet!
And I think I get the meaning more or less although I'm struggling with the word "Språkpoliser".
With reference to the debate about posting "in progress games" I don't think it matters if it is tecnically breaking the rules or not. There are clearly a number of people in the community who think it is bad practice due to the increased likely hood of receiving "outcome changing" comments. Personally I'm happy to respect that and I won't be posting any games until they are complete. Early on in my RHP days I took an "in progress" game to a Correspondence IM to look over the opening. On realising the game was ongoing he put the sheet face down and advised me that whilst we could look at the opening, we had to be very careful not to give me any help with the continuation.

Furthermore it is not very polite to the opponent.
Would he like to be judged of making bad moves? Why not ask him?
Why not just wait until the game is over?
This isn't about politness, but if they get help during the game stupid!!!!!! 🙄
