In May 2006 I started a Thread 42736 that went very popular. I want to do the same thing again.

What I really want, is to have two of our top players to play a game in secret, and then present this game, one move a day, so the game can be commented upon as the game flows on. A proposal is made in Thread 85179 but such a game is not commentable during the game is in progress.

But this game is! This game is not played at RHP nor by any of its members. It's certainly not in progress. No one of you knows for sure (but me) until the very end how it evolves.

Therefore it is open to debate, commenting, guessing what next move will be, demonstrating alternate lines of progression, criticizing bad moves and amazing good moves, and so on, any comments are welcomed.
I will not reveal who was the players nor when and where it was played, nor the length of the game, nor what the outcome will be, until after the last move is done and only then. Don't even ask.

I will also be very moderate in giving comments myself as the game progresses. I am the only one knowing how the game goes, and I don't want to accidentally give away what's going to happen.

Every day, at (more or less) the same time, I'm presenting a new move of this game, starting from tomorrow until the game is over.

I hope you will find this game interesting.

The board is set, let's begin! Enjoy!

Good! No preference for the first move, really. Let's say 1.e4.

Why not some more fancy opening? For example 1. f3!

Ok, to be serious, I also hope to see 1. e4.

My guess: 1.d4.

Why? Because no one else has said it... 😉

Perhaps the next game could start a bit further into the opening? That is, you start off the game with the first few essential moves, like starting out with (1. e4 c5 2. Nc3 d6), (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4), etc.

The flexible, not-as-theoretical English: 1.c4.

Good idea, but I think it would work better if you started 5 or 6 moves in.

btw I guess 1. Nc3 because it's been a popular topic lately.
