Can somebody explain why Kramnik gave up the pawn? i'm obviously missing something. The position in that second game seemed far too unbalanced to be drawn. There really should be something that prevents players agreeing the draw in such situations.
instead he chose to force the white knight to capture the pawn(there's no other legal move), forcing it to a bad square and opening up his rook.
anand went for the draw with 2+ minutes on his clock, against Kramnik's 9.

Wow, this is a really interesting position! (after 19.Nxd4). It looks like one side or the other must have a winning tactical knockout.
Originally posted by KorchNo, Anand has the initiative - that bishop on b7 is a monster. Anand swapped off a pair of rooks and is now two pawns down. It will be very interesting to see whether Kramnik can defend the attack now and keep his two pawn advantage. Kramnik is the best defensive player in the World, but he won't be happy until those queens are off!
After White 22th move Kramnik seems to have dangerous attack.
Originally posted by Fat LadyAnand had to give back his extra piece to get his counter initiative and at the moment (after White 24th move) Kramnik has 2 extra pawns. Position seems to be complicated.
