-Removed-It is not just the Van Allen belt. Being outside of the Van Allen belt exposes people to radiation as well, just not as much. If getting past the Van Allen belt was safe why would it be a risk for gut cancer to go to Mars? It is obviously not safe to be outside the Van Allen belt for extended periods of time.
