So think again about the rainbow. If there had always been rain, there would have always been rainbows. But there wasn't. If so this rainbow that God let Noah and his family see would have been barely noticed.
But ...[text shortened]... uch moisture or even exist to help at all with the amount of water needed to flood the earth.
Why do you need to claim that you know what happened in that 2000 year period concerning the rain.
You are the one thats making the conclusions. Im saying that leave the Bible to say waht it says .. dont bother adding.

The Bible says that God used a mist to water the earth during the creation and there was no rain.
The Bible says that rain came during the flood.
The Bible says nothing about the intervening 2000 yr period
You see it fit to claim that there was no rain for 2000 years. And foolish enough to say you are not adding. Your big point appears to be a rainbow, and that only when God sent rain for the first time then the rainbow appeared for the first time as well. God using rain among other things to cause the flood is not necessarily linked with the rainbow appearing for the first time.
A rainbow is caused by the refraction of light on small particles of water in the air. A rainbow does not need rain falling from the sky to form. It forms in waterfalls, or spray or fog or even mist that is dense enough. Anything with fine water droplets will create a rainbow if light is passing through it at the correct angle.
So if in the 2000 yr period there were waterfalls, or fog or water droplets in the sky from any source then a rainbow can form and people would have seen it. But it seems that rainbows appeared after the flood. Not the rain.
Rainbows and rain are two separate and distinct phenomena. Rainbows can form without rain.

Anyway it isn't a big issue at all in the large picture is it?
But don't argue just to be arguing as it seems your doing here.
Sometimes when one leans on their own understanding and does not have a huge brotherhood to learn from and to have God's spirit on as he says he does, some of the smaller things we learn are missed when one is on their own.

And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

Is this standard JW doctrine Rob or is Galveston waxing lyrical on the fly again?

The first time was a while ago when I asked whether light behaved differently before the flood so as not to refract and reflect in raindrops and was told there was no rain.
So I then mentioned that that must mean that there was no evaporation and condensation before then, meaning animals such as ourselves who perspire to keep cool must have had a really hard time of it! And I wondered how plants, that rely on evaporation to gain nutrients from the soil, ever managed to survive at all.
It all went quiet after that, and I was really looking forward to the explanation.

Or did the earth have rain which stopped after Adam and Eve and then started again after the flood?

Hopefully Galveston and/or Robbie will clear this up for us.

It also appears that there was no rainbow visible to man in the clouds until after the rain and the flood. There may have never been any clouds in the sky before the flood. We should not just assume things happened exactly the same before the worldwide flood as they do today. That is the reason you guys have the past all wrong. You assume wrong things.

It did not rain in the Garden of Eden when God created the plants and that is all that is certain from a Bible standpoint. There were no humans. Then God made man, man sinned, man was cursed and expelled from the Garden of Eden and made to work hard for his living for 2000 years or so and then the flood. Seems like you are the one making stupid assumptions.

In any event, it is better to be alone than to be among Watchtower people. I could not stand to be among people who publish false information about the return of Christ, make false predictions by the hundreds. You cannot be anywhere close to God with that kind of track record.
Originally posted by PenguinOne needs to remember the earth and all things such as the atmosphere were still the same after the time Adam was kicked out of the garden. The earth was perfect then and remaind so except for what the humans no doubt did to it before the flood. Just as today humans are the ones who screw things up and the part of the earth where man was living before the flood was probably showing the damage man was doing.

But even if the earth had changed even just a small amount the process of the morning mist or dew was still working to some extent.
But again the Bible never speaks of an rain ever falling until the flood. The observance of a rainbow afterwards was obviosly something new as it was a very powerful thing for Noah and his family to see.
But as I said earlier it's not a really big doctrinal issue and one can believe as you wish. I believe in the Bible and what it says on this issue.

It would have to be seen with the naked eye just as we see clouds now.
Plus it would have to be visible as it was no doubt a protection from the dangerous rays of the sun and also acted like a green house for all plant life.
And this also was a serious part of the process of the mist coming up from the ground every morning.
And finally this is no doubt where the majority of the fllod waters came from just as the Bible says. One would have to be able to see this from the earth as it was no doubt a very thick cloud cover.
