I always find that basing any kind of evaluation on a disgruntled testimony leads to a distorted perspective, especially when the party under accusation has not been given the opportunity to present their side of events. Interesting that I have been a witness of my own volition si Jehovahs witness in this context is known only to you and the others who have done likewise.
Ho hum, this is nothing new: I told you a long time ago that you are as disingenuous as they come, and this thread constitutes more evidence for that (as if we needed any more). You can quit pretending. We all know you started this thread with the intention of ushering in some definition of 'cult' that would just happen to not apply to your cherished organization; or would happen to apply liberally to just about everything, so as to lose its effect in its application to your cherished organization. All one needs to do is take a look at your second post in this thread to see that it was exactly your intention to steer the conversation to such a conclusion, regardless of how incredibly daft the logic was in getting you there. (Talk about daft logic: you tried to imply in that post that it follows from a couple select instantiations of the term both having some property P that this property P must be analytic to the term. Yikes.)

And of course you have no empathy for Lee's story. Big surprise there.

the thread is not about me, a rather glaring irrelevancy from you i know, but there you are, sadly its what we have come to expect. You also read hearts as well as minds, wow, I cannot make up my mind whether its a supernatural gift this discerning of motives or a reflection of the cynical times in which we live.

Doesn't the fact that you have had no issues make you curious as to why someone else does have issues?

So she - and people like her - represent a whole side of the JW organisation that you do not know about. Would you agree?

OK, I understand that you don't know Lee personally. But you say you know a few ex-JWs personally.

They were in the organisation. Then they were out. They had a bad experience. You say you know them personally. Surely you have some insights into why their experience was different from yours?
