I think Jesus is simply speaking to human beings in ways that they can understand. Given all the times Jesus said to believe on Him and in Him and that without Him, you can do nothing, He in the quoted passage is illustrating the fruit that believing in Him produces.
It’s clear even in the Old Testament that God does not judge as man judges:
“But t ...[text shortened]... or man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.“

No. Goats engage in mouthworship.
Sheep engage in good works.
You previously said you meet with people to teach them about Jesus Christ. Is that not correct?
What good works do you do with those with whom you meet? How are you, as a self-professed Christ follower, different from people who do not follow Christ and meet to do good works?

Human beings cannot become righteous (in right standing with God) without doing that as is stated numerous times in the Bible.

Faith without works .. 😀
How many times must you read that before you understand it?

Remember this passage in a couple of weeks. PM me for details.

Do you think Jesus Christ was/is God in the flesh?
Surely that is not a personal question.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
