They say that history was born with Herodotus for a reason -- he acutally tried to record objective truth, as opposed to using history as a convenient tool of propaganda.

The full point would be that the Hebrews are unique because they record a history stained in tragedy, defeat, and placing the blame on themselves from the start.
This was never done until modern times.

I listen to Alex Jones a couple of times a week for a half an hour or so. He is a very committed Christian and rails against many of the things you rail against. You'd fit in as a guest on his show. Do you realize that?

Are there runestones to their defeats sitting out there somewhere?

Read the Bible -- for every glorious event there is a whole period of massive decadence and decline, and military defeat.

Originally posted by @fmfNo, I am saying they are God's chosen people because I believe in the claims of Jesus Christ and the many Saints and Prophets. Of course, the written record of this is also very valid.

I believe in the miracles performed by Saints, and the narrative of Christianity.
Part of that is the aspect of the Hebrews as God's chosen people.
I can elaborat emore on that if you give me some kind of direction to go in.

I have an interest in Norse culture. My mother is a Norwegian and while my father is a mixed American, he is also primarily Norwegian and Finnish, so if you could recommend some things, I would actually really enjoy reading some about this.

Where in the Bible do you find this particular reason for God choosing Israel as his chosen people?
Christians, I have noticed generally dont know the Bible and what it contains. Rather they regurgitate what their favorite pastor tells them.

What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law
If you do not know the law, you don't know what is sin and what is not sin. Notice that Paul is saying this even under the new covenant.
