It was actually Satan that communicated the lie to Eve through the serpent.

So there is an actually planted tree which provides life and not Christ and/or the spirit of God? And this planted tree which gives life needs to get it's life from the soil (or dirt as Lemon lime calls it) ?

So iyo the tree might have actually been what, a family tree? If it's not a literal tree then what does the word "tree" represent?

It's not enough for you to claim symbolism without showing (or at least hinting at) what that symbolism means or represents. If everything in that story is literally a figurative prop in order to make a point, then what in ...[text shortened]... corner don't panic. You can always paint a door on the wall and escape... figuratively speaking.
I'm not suggesting anything lemon lime I'm being completely up front and coherent unlike most of the other theists in this thread. So let me be clear I'm saying that the trees in the Genesis account of the Garden of Eden are symbolic.

Do you think the "tree of Life" which was guarded by cherubim was a real life giving tree with roots for its nutrients and planted in the "dirt" (as you put it)?

The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.…

The point is to answer your question. Yes, the tree of life was actually planted by God.

Sounds like an allegory of Iron Age origin.

It is written as an actual event, but it may also be an allegory. Just because it is an actual event does not automatically rule out an allegorical meaning.

What makes you imagine it to be an "actual event"?

I imagine it might be an allegory too. I do not imagine it is an actual event because that is clearly stated.
