ESV Proverbs 21
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.

I think it is challenging to see all the evil in our lives when we are always justifying ourselves, and to everyone else. Our perspectives are filtered to make us look good even when we are not, so we make excuses.
I'm glad you are still pondering over this kelly.

Keep going.

It freaks me out that a modern human being believes everlasting punishment emanates from an supposedly omnibenevolent deity.
Modern smodern. The Bible is timeless and is as relevant today as it ever was. I believe what the Bible says, and it says, unequivocally, that those who reject Christ will suffer everlasting punishment in outer darkness.

But obviously you can't get past verse one and believe what it says. Your objections to the truth of the Bible are duly noted.

Any comment on Rev 14:10 that you said to Dive didn't exist and that he was lying about? Sonship has gone into hiding on the issue.

'They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.'

Happy to help.
I'll try to help you.

That verse does not say, as divegeester says, to which I replied, that "Jesus is in hell" overseeing the burning of those in it.

It's obtuse.

Yes "they" will. My objection is against the notion that "Jesus is in hell overseeing" their torment.

Is that too much for you to understand? Am I being clear enough?

It is you I'm concern about since we as a people have a sliding scales of right and wrong, throughout time. Our justifications vary, the constant is we know we need to justify our actions.

What do you say to the likes of sonship and KellyJay who assert that "what the Bible says, and it says, unequivocally" is that people who lack belief in the Gospels will be tormented in burning flames for eternity?

Thank you. I know .. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10 KJV)
You think you're being "persecuted".

You're just being arrogant.

How do your "sliding scales of right and wrong" deal with the fact that it once did not seem "evil" to execute homosexuals for being homosexuals, but nowadays - I am sure you will agree - it WOULD be "evil" to execute homosexuals for being homosexuals? There seems to be a sliding scale of right and wrong throughout time there, no? Or so you not acknowledge that there's been change?

I say to Kelly and sonship I appreciate their unwavering and uncompromising adherence to the truth of God's Word.

But is their theology, which has people who lack belief in the Gospels being tormented in burning flames for eternity, an "unwavering and uncompromising adherence to the truth of God's Word"?

You are failing to compartmentalize the issue.

Under the law, in Israel, homosexuality was a capital offense. Just as was murder and adultery.

Today, in this dispensation of grace, since Jesus was crucified, died and was buried, and subsequently raised "from out among the dead", the world is not under the law, but under grace.

The institution of execution for adultery and homosexuality is no longer in force. The world (mankind) is not subject to the administration of the law as it will be again once Jesus returns and establishes the kingdom of God on earth for a thousand years.

Until then God is "long suffering" giving everyone the opportunity to repent of their sin and turn to Christ for forgiveness and salvation.

This is God's world and He is sovereign over the affairs of man.

This is your opportunity. Believe God and live. Forever.

Those who reject Christ was clearly defined by Christ in Matt 25. It is the goats who rejected Him by not being charitable to those in need. These goats will be cast into the lake of fire along with the devil and his angels

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat:
I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in:
naked, and ye clothed me not:
sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
(Matthew 25:41-43 KJV)

Christianity preaches a doctrine that discourages the following of the commandments as you yourself clearly stated. If this is what you preach, then the rational assumption is that this is also what you live by. Your doctrine is the road to the lake of fire.

If something used to be deemed NOT "evil" but now it is deemed "evil", then there has been a change.

This fact - that there has been a change - cannot be explained away with the idea of 'compartmnentalization'.

It was once not "evil" to have slaves and not "evil" to beat them. But now it is "evil" to have slaves and, if one had some, it would be "evil" to beat them.

This is a change in what is and isn't considered "evil".
