@divegeester
Paul writes that we are to rightly handle the word of truth, not twist it into things that the scriptures don't say, promoting doctrines that are not biblically based.
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Peter warns us that some will twist to their destruction, which is quite the charge when thinking about what is said. To turn what the scripture says and imply something else instead of the intent of the text is a serious charge.
2 Peter 3:15-17
English Standard Version
And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.
So when you accept some verses and reject others, I have to ask you do you think the Holy Spirit moved on the writers of both those you like and those you don't like? Is it the Word of God all, or just some of it, and the only way to tell is not according to the scriptures standing up to history, we instead had to wait until now so you can tell us by your internal compass with passages that are acceptable and which are not?
Jesus says that the Word cannot be broken, but those who accept some and not other parts of it are doing just that.
John 10:34-36
English Standard Version
Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken— do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
@divegeester saidYou want me to write out each verse for you? You're too lazy to take a few minutes to look up a few verses in your Bible? Can you even find it?
If you’ve got something to say, say it.
If you’ve got a scripture to back it up, post it.
I am not looking your stuff up, you lazy arse.
You're obviously not really serious about wanting to know the truth about the inerrancy, infallibility and veracity of the scriptures.
That's not why you're here. You're just here to denigrate those that actually believe what the scriptures say.
@divegeester saidSmall, narrow minded myopic little man can't see the big picture. Can't follow the thread, and can't read a Bible. Too much effort I guess. Easier to make excuses.
How is it that some of people think that citing a list of scripture references is debate!? It’s just a list of scripture references posted in lieu of actual debate.
Lazy, ineffective, inept.
@divegeester saidYou're barking up the wrong tree. You'll not believe anything "ANY fellow Christian" has to say about it.
Can ANY fellow Christian here tell me why everything in the bible should be taken as true and accurate?
Can ANY fellow Christian here tell me why any other Christian shouldn’t cherry pick the bible based on their own personal moral compass?
You're only posting in this forum to mock Christians.
@divegeester saidJesus recommends cherry-picking.

@rajk999 saidWe are told to study the word, not simply pick out the bits we like and leave the rest behind. If you take anything away from scripture, leaving aside those things that don't agree with your stance, what you are presenting isn't a biblical truth; you are presenting only your point of view.
Jesus recommends cherry-picking.
Unless you are saying that the Bible isn't the Word of God, in that case, who cares what you think about what verses you like and dislike. Everything you quote from it is just your imagination by definition; you may as well quote "The Hobbit."
