It seems you are counting both the people who die and the people who could have died (but didn't or haven't or won't). Presumably you think this doom laden prediction will be convincing to the rest of humanity in a world that, by many measures, is just getting better and better, safer and safer, healthier and healthier, and more and more peaceful.

Nearly 1500 bodies have been found in Pompeii and Herculaneum as a result from Vesuvius erupting in 79AD, although that is probably nowhere near the total number who died. Estimates of the total population of the two towns is anywhere from 12000 - 25000, even if we take the extremely conservative estimate at the top end of 25000 the number of bodies found represents 6% of the population who died. Contrast that figure with the Japanese earthquake and tsunami last year, 15000 comfirmed dead and 3000 still missing. Japans population was 128,057,352 at the last census so those killed in the earthquake and tsunami represents 0.000015% of the population. Says it all.
