You said that "there is only one perspective". But there are clearly different perspectives - this community's Christians - and their different perspectives - being a case in point. You must be able to see that this is so, unless you're just being disingenuous again.

I presume you enjoy SiFi, and maybe Natalie...
Thank you for this, I hadn't seen any previews of this movie yet.

I have not seen a Natalie Portman performance I did not like.

No, I am just saying that someone has told you about eternal suffering and you are just swallowing it without questioning it.

Surely I have thought of it being symbolic - but then again, the Bible is also specific, no short cuts.
How do you decide which parts of the bible are literal and which are not?

This fingers in your ears singing la-la-la approach won’t get you very far in terms of credibility in this forum Nicksten.

It’s probably not in his favoured website.

The fact that you are referring to "different Christian perspectives" just shows where the real problem is. There is only one perspective, and that is clear in the Bible.
How preachers interpret and preach the wrong message is not for me to defend - I have not met any preacher that preaches false stuff that is outside the Bible.

I am not a pastor, did ...[text shortened]... y - if that is what you're asking, but I have the Bible, common sense and logic. Do I need more?
Oh dear.

There is only one biblical perspective and as luck would have it, it happens to be yours.

I’ve already explained the point of the OP to you directly, why are you asking again. You are bringing to sound like dj2becker, you’re not secretly dj2becker are you?

Well - I study. Ask preachers, get the meaning of certain things.

Yeah well - you're technically very true on that fact.
I mean - someone did write it down in the Bible - and I believe it 😉
No doubt there 😉

I do believe the Bible is correct - nothing in it ever has put any doubt that its not true.

Many people can see that by observing the life of Jesus in the Gospels.

The moral issue for some readers also comes down to whether they should trust in Christ or trust in you and your arguments.

They should put their trust in Jesus Christ.
They should not put their destiny in the hands of your reasonings. I am sure of that.
You have admitted, in this thread, that you would not personally burn someone alive for rejecting you. Clearly you personally do not find god’s action moral and yet here you are now a few days and manny pages later telling us that the moral issue is tied up (whatever that means) with the nature of god. It is clear to me that you, like Nicksten, do not agree at all with this aspect of the nature of your version of God but are in fact....just following orders.

How do you explain the existence of Christian perspectives on what the Bible means that are different from yours?
