In fact, with Teebow in his 15th year as QB, I almost lost any hope that any other team could be ranked #1.
Boise State got by Tulsa, though the 28-21 win hardly helps them in their longshot quest to get into the title game. Cincinnati scored an impressive win at South Florida and looks like a possible title contender.
As for running the table, nothing stands in Cincinnatis way. I think the team they beat the other day was the only ranked opponent on their schedule. Therefore, I think it is a hard sell to put them in the NCG but, at the same time, they should make another BCS bid. I just hope they don't embarass themselves like they did last year in ther Orange Bowl.

Jimmy Claussen is getting Heisman buzz, now all he has to do is run up some numbers on USC and maybe, just maybe get an Irish win. I'll believe it when I see it but somehow I don't feel the game at South Bend is going to be another Trojan blowout.
Originally posted by whodeyWell, not too many people gave Utah a shot last year against a powerhouse Alabama team that took Florida to the wire in the SEC Championship game, but the Utes won. The games still have to be played and Florida has looked very good, but not overwhelming, against Tennessee and LSU.

If Cincinnati wins out and there aren't two unbeaten teams from the SEC and Big12 (which I don't think there will be), I think they reach the title game. Their schedule isn't that easy; they close at Pitt and still have games against a decent UConn team and a good West Virginia squad. I think an unbeaten Big East team still rates over a once beaten squad from the SEC or Big12 in the final BCS standings.
Originally posted by whodeyThe last few years I haven't held out any hope that the Irish could even be in the game against USC; forget about beating them. This year, I think they'll play well and keep it reasonably close; our offense is much better and the Trojans' O is much worse than previous years. Of course, their D is excellent and ours isn't very good. Maybe if we get some turnovers or big special teams' plays we can pull off a shocker, but I think it's a lot more likely we lose by 7-10 points.

How about them Buckeyes!!
Really, this has been a long time in coming. Last week against Wisconsin OSU only had one offesive touchdown. In fact, OSU has struggled offensively under Tressel now since I can remember with the offensive line being one of the major culprits. In addition, Tressel insists on continuing to call plays that has also been suspect. However, now he is stuck with a QB in Pryor who can't throw the ball and consistantly turns over the ball and makes bad decisions. In fact, in the loss today against Purdue, I think TP had 4 turn overs, and there should have been more.
The sad part is that I see no improvement in TP, in fact, he is getting worse. In addition, I have two more years to look forward to watching this guy play behind a line that will never be able to block. The only hope is that they find another BB wells and continue good defense. Either that or they will do the unthinkable and hire a new offensive line coach, turn the play calling over to someone else other than Tressel, and recruit another decent QB.
In short, TP is the biggest bust in OSU history. I just wonder if Tressel will ever realize it or accept it. It is a hard reality to grasp when you have all your eggs placed in one basket.
Originally posted by whodeyI think you're being a bit hard on TP but I do understand how sentiment runs in Columbus. TP really needed a redshirt year, to 1) get up to the speed of the college game and learn the system, and 2) Be able to adjust the offensive components, especially the line, to work with his talents and ease him into his role. He hasn't been eased into anything, he's been thrown in and it's been ugly at times. I would fully expect offensive improvements from OSU in his junior and senior year.

Originally posted by BadwaterIt is NOT just TP. As I said, it is the big picture. OSU has struggled on offense since Tressel rolled into town. They used to get by with great running backs and/or great receivers and fair to good QB's followed by an abysmal offensive line and poor play calling. However, now they have no real great running back nor do they have a QB that can deliver the ball to the receivers. It is then hard to even assess how good the recieving crew is.

When looking back at QB's OSU has had in the past, it seems that we pretty much knew what to expect from each of them once they started playing. In fact, I remember the game Craig Krensel first played and beat MIchigan, and he never looked back. You either have it, or you don't. It can't be taught or learned. I really think it boils down to intelligence and instinct, neither of which I think TP has.
Originally posted by EladarAgreed. The whole ranking system is retarded. In fact, why not just have the entire SEC the top ten every year and be done with it? It would be more accurate.
OU sucks and could have easily won that game. Texas isn't very good. But the Big XII is down this year. Hopefully Texas runs the table and draws a good team to play in a BCS bowl. I'd love to see Texas get it's butt kicked. OU sure isn't going to do it. OU sucks this year.
I only want to see one more match up before I crown the SEC the best in college football. I want to see USC play Florida!! Then I want to watch Florida devour them bit by bit until their manhood has been taken from them.

OU has 3 losses this year by what 5 points? Granted BYU doesn't look to be that great, but Miami and Texas are both very solid top 10 teams. OU's defense was jacked up today and they played well, while Texas sputtered the first half.
Last year you said OU was great and Texas beat them too. You are just never satisfied. The fact is Texas has beaten OU 4 out of the last 5 years, and 3 out of 4 under Colt McCoy.
You are just negative about Texas. So be it. There are plenty of you out there. Fact is, Texas is still standing and OU is hoping for a decent bowl bid.
Originally posted by shortcircuitIf Bradford doesn't go down in the first few minutes, Texas loses by 20. You can't get any less impressive in a win then the Longhorns did; I'd drop them a few more spots in the polls.
Texas gets it done...again. Colt was sick all week and plays hard in a defensive battle. Fozzy Whitaker is about to become a stud...finally!!
We are still standing!!!
