tbh i see the pictures of south africa and i think of the less developed south american nations. i've no doubts about the quality of the stadiums on offer and yes i'm sure there was similar crimes at most if not all of the previous world cups but how many of them were hosted in a 'developing' nation that "already has a high crime rate" and it seen (probably w ...[text shortened]... es on some of the roads but they won't be ready in time.
we'll see how it goes...
I'm very sorry to hear of any tourists who are victims of this type of crap, but just a few precautions would prevent this. These people really needed to come here prepared with this type of information.
Most people will watch from home etc. as the games are broadcast on the public broadcaster, so that screening area was just a once-off. Probably just the excitement getting the better of some people with insufficient control elements. With all the foreign dignitaries that arrived in these past few days, I just think the police were spread a little thin.
We are busy with HUGE road infrastructure projects and they are only slated to finish in 2014 I believe, so again the reporters probably got it wrong, seeing construction on the roads.
Again, we've hosted countless tournaments, including other world cups, so traffic to stadiums isn't massive problems - probably just again so in reporter's minds who are used to mature public transport systems. Just make sure you are early and not sitting in a pub of your hotel an hour before the game and you should be fine.
We are a developing country and if tourists came here unprepared without accurate information, who's 'fault' is it?
Unfortunately, because of our infamy, there is a huge magnifying glass over us, especially regarding the crime and infrastructure issues, so you will probably see much more negative reporting about this outside our borders. More so than you would've seen regarding these issues, in say, Germany for example.

If Australia put Its mind to it, It could definitely take over soccer.
How many teams in the world cup again?
I think New Zealand are the biggest rivals for the Aussies, other than that its just a bunch of Tongans anf Fijians,eh? (no disrespect meant, but...eh? )

Yep, proudly so. Are you playing polo or golf this weekend?
I wasn't putting it down by saying it was a poor mans game. I was also poor growing up. We played soccer, football, & baseball, but HOCKEY was OUR GAME!

Originally posted by PalynkaI quite like the enlgish (at least in premier league games) and the dutch commentators. If these don't do it for you then go to a chinese channel, at least you won't know the nonsense they are babbling.
FACT!
But, truth be told, I have yet to find some good commentators. Maybe the French commentators are the least bad.
