None of the two teams really wanted it. Must have been quite boring for the neutral although as a fan that's exactly the type of game I was hoping for.

Good points: Our defense looks rock solid and hopefully CQ understood that Ronaldo cannot play in the middle. He needs space to run forward with the ball, he's can't play with his back to the goal. And Coentrao is awesome.

Negatives: CQ is an idiot.

Ronaldo has never looked happy in the middle, in the first half against North Korea he was in the middle, on the left, on the right, clearly at sorts and unhappy. He works best as a winger i think. Also very impressed with Portugal, they should have had the better of Brazil and yes Coentrao was awesome.

I thought Simao was really good too, the moment he came on things started looking a lot more positive in attack. I'd say overall that Portugal had a solid defence and looked more dangerous (than Brazil) going forward at times, and that will be very reassuring for them.

From Brazil's perspective:
They looked a weaker team today, regardless of the opposition. Nilmar didn't work too well, Fabiano messed up his chances, they were reasonably toothless.
I wonder how Julio Cesar is going to get through the cup if they go all the way with that back injury. After Mereiles fell on him and he lifted up his jersey for treatment, jeez... all those straps and bandages... looks bad.

Nice 4-4-1-1 from Spain against a very good Chile side. An out-of-form Torres up all on his own, always threatening to steal goals from slow defenders, preventing Chile from committing even more players to attack (it was a million red shirts in Spain's half on a few ocassions), holding up the ball when a route to goal wasn't available. Very cool strategy against a tremendously attack minded team.

The match was so boring I decided to watch my dog. He was sleeping...

Also I don't think portugal were impressive at all, they couldn't even play better than a lacklustre Brazil B. Portugal's stile somehow reminded me of Greece in 2004. 10 defenders when the opponent has the ball. 3 players on the counter. It worked better for Greece though, as they actually scored goals.

it was one of these matches that when the 5 minutes of added time was shown at the end of the game millions were put on suicide watch around the world. it was that bad. think the last 10 mins of the spain/chile match but with a sense of expectancy.
