Our 2005 and 2006 champion Quirine will likely finish third (!) in group 56. I didn't look through all of them but this had to be one of the toughest groups.
I doubt we'll ever see a repeat champion again. Of course, my crystal ball is completely chipped and cracked, so who knows.
Tournament 1677 group 56.
tension84 came first.
last year Quirine had a similar scenario and was saved by the finding that trains44 was a computer ... unlikely to happen again I guess.
anyway - well done for 2205 and 2006!

No eliminations of big players but well done to davejacks for moving through from a 5-way (!) battle in group 37.
The toughest groups are where there are many players with roughly the same rating, (like ours), and no clear leader. If there was a 2000+ player there, it would have been easy - I'd have just given up 🙂

Looks like we have about a month left until time is up. However all the sections may be decided before that point.
Incedentally, shouldn't groups 13 and 47 be decided? Looks like there is a slight flaw in the new tournament code that doesn't allow for a tie..

We have tied first places in 13, 47, 50, and possibly 46. 60 could end up as a three-way tie. 13 and 56 look to have been the strongest. The strangest looking crosstables are 41, 49, 60.
Congrats to upset winner scriptori in group 53.

Originally posted by SmookiePWhen I posted that back on April 4th, the highest rated player in the section (by 100 points or so) was Coffee House Guy. He had scored 0 points and was on his way to forfeiting all the games.
Yeah, wuddup wit dat? I'd like to know as well..
Since then he's dropped to 1100, which makes the crosstable look more normal.
