" Any way you cut it, we are headed for a messy outcome"

This headline from the Mar 17th edition of USA today is spot on. It's "rock or a hard place" time. America can either continue to pour massive amounts of money down this 20 year black hole, or insist the Afghan army, (trained and equipped by the USA for 2 decades) stand on it's own 2 feet and fight the Taliban. Joe picked the latter.

Donald Trump's solution of a power sharing agreement between the Taliban and the Afghan government went nowhere, so this is what we're left with.

This is going to be a mess for months, if not years to come, but the sad fact is - there are no simple answers.

Churchill didn't have simple answers, either, like evacuating 250,000 from the beaches of Dunkirk, waiting to be slaughtered. All one has to do is lead. Do you think that Biden is a better leader than Trump? I know, ,that's a tough one!

If you listened to the President's statement today and compare it to the Donald's narcissist ravings, you'd have no doubt.

There is one: the U.S. needs to stop invading countries.

The inevitability of a messy outcome is what kept us there for so long. Every time there was an opportunity to pull troops out, 2007, 2014, 2019 etc. US presidential politics got in the way.

The solution (for me) is simple. GET OUT.

The Afghan military had many advantages with all the military aid we gave them. They don't want to fight.

Nor do the people.

Maybe after more than four decades of war in their country, most Afghans just want peace.

And that so easy. Islam is a religion of peace. Whats the problem?

Sure, maybe they'll convert to Christianity and avoid the problem because we all know Christian countries never engage in war.

They are a bunch of petty people fighting over nonsense. Its time to leave them alone and let them fight it out.

So you agree that Islam is not a religion of peace?

I'm not interested in playing in yet another anti-Muslim hate thread; there have been literally hundreds, perhaps thousands, on this site already.
