@mchill saidthat is not the issue…leaving all those innocent people behind is the problem.
" Any way you cut it, we are headed for a messy outcome"
This headline from the Mar 17th edition of USA today is spot on. It's "rock or a hard place" time. America can either continue to pour massive amounts of money down this 20 year black hole, or insist the Afghan army, (trained and equipped by the USA for 2 decades) stand on it's own 2 feet and fight the Taliban. @no1marauder saidThe Taliban want to fight. They are Afghani, too
Maybe after more than four decades of war in their country, most Afghans just want peace.

@no1marauder saidYou think the Afghans will have peace? Hello? Oh, you mean the guys who run things. But not the little people.

If I may extrapolate, it would be like Socialism, where the socialists tell the people who live under their rule (under socialism) what to do. The socialists enjoy caviar, but not the people. What is the name that will be given to people who live under Socialism, anyway?

@mott-the-hoople saidThis is hysterical, especially after four years of Trump doing exactly that.
his statement blaming everyone but himself?

@earl-of-trumps saidYou haven't been listening lately.

@averagejoe1 saidDictators have peace, too, after they murder all the dissidents.

You still don't understand socialism. Your scenario is not socialism. It is your wet dream, authoritarianism.

@earl-of-trumps saidI think they are just as happy the war is over as US soldiers and sailors were on V-J Day.
The Taliban want to fight. They are Afghani, too
@averagejoe1 saidUndoubtedly, the Taliban will run a repressive regime with no real elections and diminished rights for women.

Kinda what you right wingers are shooting for here.
@no1marauder saidThis is on Biden. He is President, he was not required to uphold Trump's agreement.

This thing is 100 percent on Democrats. You did it, not Trump.
@no1marauder saidYou are fine with everyone that the Taliban kill and little girls they make sex slaves.
I'm fine with Biden getting the credit for ending this foolish, hopeless war.
@averagejoe1 saidYes. Biden is a better leader than Trump.
Churchill didn't have simple answers, either, like evacuating 250,000 from the beaches of Dunkirk, waiting to be slaughtered. All one has to do is lead. Do you think that Biden is a better leader than Trump? I know, ,that's a tough one!
But the bar isn't really set that high.
