Lol wut? Electoral college weights rural votes more heavily, you know, the ones with much much lower rates of crime. If anything, eliminating the EC would make the issue of crime more relevant politically.
The fact that you said crime was not an issue where you live and your votes won't be affected by crime stats means the Electoral College works perfectly.
Eliminate the EC and NY and California would decide every election. The EC isn't going away ever.

I know there are other variables and considerations but it isn't clear that the policies you describe are the cause of increased crime. Why would it be worse in republican-led states?
