- Every state certified election results and sent their chosen electors.

- Election recounts found very little discrepancies between initial and recounted votes.

- Dominion did not change votes.

- Some people voted twice, but everyone who was caught doing this was a MAGA.

- There were 62 decisions in court, and 61 of them ruled against claims of fraud.

- The 13 federal cases saw votes by 12 TFG appointees, none of them ruled favorably to TFG's fraud claims.

- There was a 6 months long audit of Arizona's election. Conclusion: Joe Biden won.

TFG still thinks it was rigged? He's detached from reality and the rules of our Republic.

I'm not sure if The Donald honestly believes he won. I think he's just a sore loser. For decades The Donald occupied his own luxury space where he got to make all the rules and manipulate every situation to his advantage. The 2020 election was a reminder to The Donald things don't work that way in the real world.

Request for Democrats who truly care about our democracy:

Next time, if he runs for President, instead of sitting back and laughing about how he's ransacking the Republican party and egging him on (like you did in late 2015 and early 2016), register as Republicans and vote against him in the primary. Then you can switch back. I won't tell all your liberal friends that you're a Republican. I promise.

Did you listen to the interview? He sounds very serious, and then hangs up when pressed on the accuracy of the lie that more people voted than were registered.

Very strange indeed.

I don't think it's particularly new; it picked up some steam in 2016. My aunt (who lives in Oakland and is a super-liberal) did this to vote for Cruz in the CA primary in 2016. But it was too late by then. During the critical months of late 2015 and early 2016, the CNNs of the world were too busy laughing about how Trump was destroying people like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. They figured he'd be easy meat in the general and would destroy the GOP on the way.

It's one of those "be careful what you wish for" things.

California has open primaries for state
offices, and the two top vote getters
face off, regardless of party affiliation.

A good idea. Lots of states actually have open primaries, but if you're in Iowa or Nevada I'm sure the GOP would love the boost in membership.

The media of course is partly at fault. But what about the party itself?

The part the media missed was that the party was already so weak and spineless and void of ideas that it would immediately melt into a puddle like the robot in Terminator 2. It was destroyed by Trump, and rebuilt in his image. The message now is almost exclusively a litmus test of TFG voter fraud and owning libs. They have nothing else to talk about or work on. Why does it still exist?

They whined about voter fraud for 4 years but never talk about solutions and never passed a bill to fix it. Now there's a voting bill in the Senate but they're refusing to debate it. Won't even discuss what they don't like about it.

They whined about immigration but never passed a bill to fix it. As far as I know, they never even wrote one to address immigration. The hoards are still here so the wall didn't work. What else you got? Crickets.

We all watched while many of the former GOP began to morph into zombies, take on TFG talking points (the rapists and the hoards and Chyna). They began to take on his mannerisms and tone. They began to support his wacko ideas about election fraud (he still believes he won the Iowa caucus against Ted Cruz).

I blame the voters and the party itself more than I blame the media. The media are looking for eyeballs and clicks so they love Trump for that.

The GOP needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, no question.

But the first step is getting rid of Trump. Without that step, it's impossible.

Edit: As for the media, my recollection (and admittedly it was a long time ago) was that they barely even criticized him until it was clear he'd win the nomination.

In order to get rid of Trump, shouldn't
the party, itself, stop embracing him??????

Yes; but we need help. Few individual politicians have electoral incentives to push Trump under the bus. It's hard to sacrifice your career to stand up to Trump. I'm not saying people shouldn't do it; I'm saying it's hard. Republicans in Trumpian districts know they will be primaried if they oppose Trump too openly.
