@averagejoe1 saidBeing called a marxist is not the insult you think it is, even if you actually understood marxism and accurately label something as such.
Zahlanzi just said that a fine needs to based on income. Is this Marx? I think it most certainly is.
It is EXACTLY the same as his saying '....from each according to his ability." We now have 2 documented Marxists on the Forum.

@zahlanzi saidI think it a fact, not an insult. I think I am correct...you lived under socialism as recent as 1989 and yet never speak harshly about it?? One's gotta wonder, and indeed, 44.4% of your citizens say they pine for Communism, for gosh sakes.

Not to get too personal, but why do you not speak harshly of these concepts?

@wildgrass saidNo, contrare'...leave them in there so the occupants have a CHOICE. A new word for liberal people. I love this country.
Maybe we should ban speed "mandates" and force car manufacturers to stop engineering seat belts into their vehicles. Certainly we'd all have a lot more freedom. Right?
@AverageJoe1
THIS country? Or do you mean the one that comes after the death of democracy here? You would love THAT country?
@wildgrass saidI never said that and you know it. You are being stupid. I am arguing for the opposite and you know it.

Lowering the speed limit would save lives. Why don't you want to save lives on the highways? Are their lives worth less?
@zahlanzi saidNot on the highways and not generally true. Less than half of states have lowered speed limits. Why not pass a federal law using OSHA to mandate speed limits? It would save lives.
"What about lowering the speed limit? Do you support that to save lives?"
We are doing that already. In certain areas we don't drive 50km/h like we usually do in cities, we drive 30 km/h. On highways we drive faster. How is this relevant in any way? Are you saying that if I believe everyone should get a vaccine i must support a 10km/h speed limit or be a hypocrite?
"How ...[text shortened]... s should be based on income. Like when Bezos has to pay a parking fine, it should be like a billion.

It never came up specifically.

Just like a large portion of your americans pine for the confederacy, or the 50's or 60's or any other period, they are ignorant people who only remember the good and not the bad. What, you think those that like to go to renaissance fairs would actually like to live in the middle ages?
I don't even know what poll you are citing because, again, you haven't linked any source and just expect to accept whatever you are rambling about.
" Not to get too personal, but why do you not speak harshly of these concepts?"
Because they are self obvious. Not many people feel the need to drop out of the blue "i think the holocaust was bad" just to remind others where they stand on the holocaust.
@zahlanzi saidType 44.4% Romanian Communism in your safari window. (I have trouble dragging websites to these posts). For me, the 2nd link in the results is what I quoted from. "Romanian Culture Core Concepts' is the title.

I could not make that stuff up, it will be right before your eyes. they want communism.

They asked some romanians whether the living conditions were better or worse under Ceausescu. That's it. Not if it is preferable to live under communism, not if they missed the arrests and the secret services spying on the populations, the mistrust between the population.
You constructed a whole view simply through reading one line, without bothering to ask why, exactly the same as all the times you condemn any view you disagree with as "marxist".
This explains more in depth that poll you cited, just in case you want something more to ignore

@zahlanzi saidSettle, man. Do you think I am going to study Romanian history?? I saw this article for what it was and put it out here. Was I going to research it to be sure it was on the up and up? CNN doesn't even do that. Dershowitz is suing them today, as a matter of fact.

Anyway, you could write the perpetrator of the article and ask them to do it right???
You are shooting the messenger. Your angst meter is in the red. You COULD have said, Joe, I can see how you took that story for what it was, but there is more to it than that, the story is false.
And consider that a capitalist American is jousting with a Romanian of marxist leanings, evidenced of course, by many of your posts. So, why would I have questioned the article. I am sorry about Ceausescu, who cancelled Christmas and said to worship him instead. It has been a long road back to normalcy for Romania, God bless you.

if you want to throw opinions around on romanians that are somewhat informed, you should.
"Was I going to research it to be sure it was on the up and up? CNN doesn't even do that. Dershowitz is suing them today, as a matter of fact."
Heh you are so proud to be ignorant on a subject.
"Anyway, you could write the perpetrator of the article and ask them to do it right???"
That's the thing 😀 I don't disagree with the article. It was fair. YOU were the one who misread it, who reached an idiotic conclusion based on a minimum of information and you proudly declare you didn't research any facts.
"You are shooting the messenger."
A messenger didn't understood the message.
"You COULD have said, Joe, I can see how you took that story for what it was, but there is more to it than that, the story is false."
It isn't false (at least from what i read), you just didn't understand it and you lack any information regarding the context. Also you lack any willingness to learn.
So how can you form an informed opinion?
"And consider that a capitalist American is jousting with a Romanian of marxist leanings, evidenced of course, by many of your posts."
Nope. You just label everything you don't agree with as marxist. You have no idea what marxism is and i definitely never supported communism (and neither has Marx, really). You loonies are even calling Biden a marxist now, which to me is just hilarious, just like when you called Obama a socialist.
"So, why would I have questioned the article. "
So you don't appear like an ignorant ass again? I don't know exactly how your brain sludge works.
@averagejoe1 saidIf you think Romania was socialist under Ceaușescu, you are politically ignorant. You know nothing of socialism, communism, Stalinism, capitalism, or even mere democracy (which you probably think is the anti-thesis of a republic). You should just butt out of the conversation, sit in the corner, listen, and learn the basics.
I think it a fact, not an insult. I think I am correct...you lived under socialism as recent as 1989

Marx said from each according to his ability, etc. Many many of your comments have that same foundation. That is beyond socialism. So, yes, I will opine in this case, you have it in you. I'm sorry. Say you don't.
Why do I have to 'understand what Marxism is', since we have that one motto of his, which is enough for a capitalist to know what he was about? And, that is what you are about, .....in my opinion. Even all of the libs here cannot even come up with the same def of socialism, so they SURE can't get together on Marxism.
Tell you what, define Marxism.
