Trump launched air controller diversity program that he now decries
In the aftermath of the deadly collision between a jetliner and a Black Hawk helicopter at Reagan National Airport, Trump held an extraordinary news conference during which he speculated on the cause of the accident. At length, he attacked former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden for imposing what he called “a big push to put diversity” that he said weakened the Federal Aviation Administration.
Reading from a 2024 Fox News report — which he incorrectly identified as being two weeks old — Trump listed conditions that he suggested disqualify people from being air traffic controllers: “hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability, and dwarfism.”
“Can you imagine?” he asked. “Brilliant people have to be in those positions, and their lives are actually shortened, very substantially shortened because of the stress.” He suggested that it was wrong for anyone with those conditions to qualify “for the position of a controller of airplanes pouring into our country, pouring into a little spot, a little dot on the map, a little runway.”
But here’s the rub: During Trump’s first term, the FAA began a program to hire air traffic controllers with the conditions that Trump decried.
In the news conference, Trump said Obama weakened standards and “I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre at best, to extraordinary. … Then they changed it back — that was Biden.”
Trump’s claim was repeated in an executive order Trump signed Thursday that ordered a review of aviation safety: “During my first term, my Administration raised standards to achieve the highest standards of safety and excellence.”
That’s false. In his first term, Trump left the standards unchanged...

Anyway, getting back to the real world, it's childish and dishonest to just assume "it's DEI" without any hard facts in hand yet. That's what cult members do: parrot the dogma of the cult Leader without question.
I'll criticize Biden all day long for his limp-dicked policies, you see, because I'm not a cultist. Trumpers? Not so much. In fact, not at all, even with a failed first term in the record books.
It is sad, Earl, that you and so many others have fallen down this rabbit hole. You need perspective. Politics is not everything, and there's much more to life. Life's too short for cultist nuttery. Figure out what's missing in your life that's caused this all to happen to you, and then address it constructively.

There wasn't even an acting DIRECTOR of the FAA till trump picked one TODAY.
There was NOBODY on the top because of the hiring freeze. And THAT is a fuuking FACT.
He picked some trailer trash just so he can say there is an FAA director now.
I saw the damned video where a journalist asked the dude who is the FAA director and that assshole just turned and walked away.
Yeah, I guess not having a director of FAA makes things run SO much smoother.
THAT is 100% Trumps fault. There has been a multi year problem getting qualified people to be ATC and because of that there was only one ATC person on the job when usually their would have been 2. So that person was WAY overworked.
That was not Trumps fault. That is the system not finding competent people to fill jobs they actually wanted to hire.
Reagan DID one disgusting number, fired ALL ATC folks so no planes could even fly back in the 80's, I remember that one BTW, he was PROUD of it.

Also, there was already a temporary head of FAA that got fired after this incident, and yes, they brought in another one. you FUKKER! lol

Something Ive crowed about on this forum for years: DEI programs are not very good at increasing workplace diversity. Of course it provides a nice scapegoat for the trump regime whenever something goes wrong.
