This isn't a country this is a private internet forum. There is a difference.
You need to stop masking your elitism using rhetoric. To look down on somebody else is NEVER ok.

Non subscribers get exposure to advertisements. I’m guessing they (the advertisers) are paying to appear on the RHP website as well? The more non-subscribers = the more numbers of potential audience RHP can go to advertisers with. Therefore income for RHP is provided by non-subscribers as well.
I don’t trust the Internet, I don’t want to put my bank/credit details on it. I just want to play chess and post occasionally.
why not have the site everything free for everyone...
Only Russ and company know for sure, but I'm guessing it's
not enough to float the site. If I'm correct, than subscribers are
subsidizing the non-subscribers and are your benefactors.

Originally posted by DelmerNo actually it's nothing like that at all. RHP is not losing money because i'm a non subscriber.

Get off your high horse. Im FREE to use this website and you cannot stop me. I have told many people about this website, some have chosen to sign up, others havent. But it's twats like you who put me off.

Seriously Delmer, you never change...
The argument is solid. If this was a 100% pay to play site, then me, and the majority of non-subscribers would be gone. We understand the difference between need and wants, and when you only have a budget for needs, RHP is far far down the list. Therefore, making non-subscribers pay to be on the site would just make us go away and would not make RHP any more money.
Stop trying to make it sound like we are freeloaders. It isn't like we are hacking the site and pirating the services therein...

Currently some subscribers are debating in ''Site Ideas'' whether non-subscribers should be limited from posting in RHP forums.
Opinions?
Ps:
They'll find ''The New King'' in the way of their nose, unless they stop this discrimination against members who do not wish to pay to post their opinions. I'll give 'em hell, as long as I'm alive.
I'll fight till there's Justice for all.

And for your information I am employed full time (I have actually never been un-employed since I was 14), have several investments and due to this have a tight budget. Currently I donate $35 a month to the charity Oxfam and I was pondering whether to pull this so I can subscribe to RHP. But sorry, Oxfam won out.

Originally posted by DelmerDepending on how well they market their website to advertisers then yes, it is possible to run a website with this much audience at a profit. But RHP has offered a better level of service through subscription to anyone who wanted it. This would also bring in alot of profit. And good for them. I wish them all the best. They certainly deserve it. The fact is, is that RHP would not have no where near the same number of subscriptions if it was purely a pay to play website. Simple.
