I expected that some older people who have had bad experiences with Germans during the war might be anti-German, but I have never got negative reactions when I said that I am German. In fact, most foreigners I have spoken to find it rather strange that many Germans still feel guilty for things which happened before they were born. I grew up in a Germany in which this guilt was nurtured very much by the schools and society in general. It took me a long time to understand that this also is a form of nationalism ("nobody is as bad and dangerous as we are" ), and not any more healthy than other forms of nationalism. I learned this partly by visiting other countries and talking to people from other countries. So my experience is entirely different from yours.
Hey Guys!
I'm 14 years old and from Germany, but although i'm the generation that hasn't to do anything with it, i'll always get connected with hitler and nazi-stuff!!! I just would like to know why!!! Had an uncle in the CBI and another in the Pacific Theater. Uncle in the CBI was killed by a German bomber on Thanksgiving day, 1943 and I remember another uncle, his younger brother, coming to give Mom and Dad the news that Grandpa and Grandma had just received the telegram. I was never brought up to hate anyone. And I think very few of those who actually fought the war ever hated anyone and if they did that hate pretty much ended the day the war ended. Look at all the WWII reunions in the past few years where Allied and Axis veterans get together and visit old battlefields and discuss old battles. I'm guessing most anti-German / anti-Japanese sentiment today comes from the young who have an idealized, mistaken idea of what the war really was like. And the same is true for the pro-Nazi movements of today. I might be wrong but I think it primarily happens among the young who have no concept of history and no perspective as to what they are supporting or opposing.

I was actually involved in both the European and the Far Eastern sectors of conflict at different stages during 1939 - 1945.
I drive a BMW car, and am typing this on a Sony laptop, without ever confusing memories of those days with present reality.

Having said this, although I feel sorry for young Germans having to live with this dark cloud over their history, there are still many people alive who experienced the results of this psychopath, who was perhaps democratically elected by your great grandparents? They have to live every day with those memories.I would rather be in your shoes than theirs. Perhaps when the last of them have passed on, discussions about "forgetting"will be more appropriate. Until then, I say good luck to you and try to ignore the idiots in this world.

1) Do you ever insult other people on uchess or say anything that could be hurtful to them?
2) How do you react when they say whatever it is they say?

So, not only a nice person, but also a royal butt-licker and sell-out.
No wonder you're so right wing. I think you need therapy.
