There are also programs in place for the poor and homeless. These are necessities in a capitalist economy.
If they have free food clothin shelter, then the next step would be to go grab one of those 7 million jobs?????? Am I missing something here? Are you being obtuse?!?

Do you know that Conrad Hilton started as a bellboy in a hotel. Ended up owning it and others. Hilton hotels! Imagine that. Ray Kroc (Mcdonalds magnate) sold paper cups. You just dont see the drift, do you. Did I mention the old man that mows the grass at the country club, for 40 years, quite complacent, but you might call him poor.

Ahhhhh, could it be that your ilk want citizens to be dependent upon the government? Gosh I never thought of that.

Why is there unemployment in a capitalist economy?

And what happened during the Great Depression, for example? Did people just get lazy all of a sudden or does this economic system tend to have periods where large numbers of people are seeking employment but can't find it?

You do realize that the government only counts as unemployed those actively seeking employment, don't you?

Actually I want the government to be dependent on and subservient to the will of the People and not responsive only to the wealthy and powerful.

No, you want our citizens to be dependent on and subservient to the will of the government. You continually advocate taking from citizens that you don't like and give to those you do like. Our country flourished with a capitalistic model. Stop taking from those who have earned through their hard work and good decisions so you bribe others to be thankful for their government handouts.

Your BS propaganda is tedious.

The country only really flourished when it dumped the religion you believe in i.e. laissez faire capitalism and adopted progressive economic policies which spread wealth and income throughout the system. Your type of ideology led to the Great Depression and the many dysfunctional features of the American economy prior to the 20th Century.

Unfortunately, crackpots like yourself have exercised an undue influence in the last 40 years and this has led to large increases in income inequality and lack of governmental regulation and oversight which further destabilized the system. The Great Recession of 2008 was the result of those errors.

The People are tired of ideas like yours and willing to have a system that isn't based on the idea that a small minority grab the vast majority of wealth while most labor at wages that would be under what is now the minimum wage (you have often stated American workers are overpaid and should only get what workers in the most repressive and backward nations make). Your sycophantic vision is not sustainable either politically or economically.

Needy? My cousin Bob is on hard times and cannot afford a place to live. He Needs a place to live. Can the Federals make a program exist to pay for a roof over his head? Maybe something to cook on? He would also like for someone to pay for his health care, but I told him that you and Kev and already working on that.

Needy indeed. But, I also told him he will have ...[text shortened]... ad, as he sits on a bench across from the college watching those cherubs going off to the local pub.
Isn't Bob your family?

Why can't YOU help him out?

“A capitalist system must have a certain level of unemployment in order to function properly. Without unemployment wages rise due to supply and demand pressures at which point unprofitable / inefficient employers go bust and the capitalist model is rebalanced by a functioning level of unemployment.
The point is why should those randomly selected for unemployment be punished by extreme poverty and shame given that they are servicing the capitalist system every bit as much as those lucky enough to be employed..

If you are unable to figure that out or even understand the logic of it, then no, I cannot source a fully functioning brain pre packed with logic circuits for you earl. But hey it shouldn’t be a problem with your private health insurance.

People who don't need to or don't want to work are not counted as unemployed in the official US figures:

"There is only one official definition of unemployment - people who are jobless, actively seeking work and available to take a job" https://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm#:~:text=There%20is%20only%20one%20official,of%20the%20employed%20and%20unemployed).

basically addressing Kev, here

Before COVID, the labor shortage was so bad in the fast food industry here that in one radical case, a woman simply chose to close her once booming business. She couldn't hire anyone!

But there were cases of restaurant owners going right into a competing business AT LUNCH TIME and offering a wage to a counter worker that they simply could not refuse, and the two would walk out together, with the worker deserting the customers and his old boss,,,, AT LUNCH TIME

that's how the REAL world works in a labor shortage, Kev, not the "logical" way your liberal lunatics paint it to be.

All States require people on unemployment to show they are actively seeking employment. Failure to do so leads to a termination of benefits.
