The immigration system is broken and has been broken for at least 20 years. As was clearly shown in many other threads on the topic, Trump made it a lot worse and now it's bearing down on states like New York. It's asinine that you think new York should just take of it on their own.

Mexican drug cartels charge money for everyone coming through the border. The US spends a lot of money for each case, currently lets anyone through with a 3+ year in the future court date, and doesn't charge a cent for it. Places like NY City who's citizens generally opposed the wall are being overrun by immigrants, but are being told it's all Trump's fault.

If he responds properly to the OP, he will be stuck with having to say......'Well, if they are not illegal, then they were let in by the Feds to do their business, whatever it may be. Further, if they break a law, like loitering or stealing jewels, the STATE will enforce the law. There is no fed law dealing with such infractions". That is what an adult Wgrass would say.

An army does not cost NEAR as much as immigration is costing us , which is $151B a year, about $1400 per taxpayer. Take into account we get a bang for our buck with the army, but we get zero for the money we pay for the aliens.
