Yeah but Japan, France and Germany doesn't have to police the whole world like the US has to do. If it was up to me I'd pull the US out of the UN and have my tax dollars put to use here in the US.๐
On a more general point, of course not all of what the US has done has been bad, but some of it has, and as the most powerful country in the world its faults are always going to be under the spotlight.
Number one among those faults, in my opinion, is the failure to address the problem of the greenhouse effect, to which the US contributes 25% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions. Despite constant reminders from the scientific community, most of us can hardly conceive of the devestation this will cause over the next 50-100 years. If the US does not take urgent action to curb its emissions, then it will have to carry out an awful lot of good deeds to make the rest of the world forget or forgive its failure.

The US is blamed for the AIDS epidemic in Africa (not policing enough with our $$); the US is damned for supporting Israel (who else will?..Europe?...don't make me laugh...anti-Semitism is at or near 1930 levels in Europe)...I agree that it should be a bilateral support along with the Palestinians. Why isn't India chastised for its overpopulation...a major drain on resources. How about the Chinese and their Yellow River Hydroelectric project that is projected to ruin vast environments in mainland China. Has anyone spanked Brazil(and the rest of South America) for the vast destruction of the Amazon Rain Forest? How about the vast Japanese fishing fleets that wreak havoc on fisheries with their kilometres long fishing lines and nets, catching evrything under the waves...catching sharks and killing them just for their fins...let's not forget Saudi Arabia spreading hatred of all infidels with their Wahabbism ideals...at the rate we're going, the clash of cultures will destroy the world long before any disregard for the Kyoto agreement does...just my perspective, however different it is.

Originally posted by richhoeyWell who is gonna police the world? France? Germany, or the UN. What like the success the UN had in Bosnia or Kosova. Until the US showed up they were still killing each other. As for the UN not supporting the US in their fight against Iraq, should show what a worthless organization it truly is. They would rather keep a killer in charge of that country. Must have been a lot of Euro's invested in the country. The US should withdraw from the UN.

if you must defend your country, and you must, thats fine, but at least do it where it makes a little sense. this can then make it a better country.
