@kevin-eleven saidYoga is my exercise of choice. It's portable, effective, and (if one uses DVD's) includes the best looking instructors of any exercise program anywhere.
In another thread, VR asked, "How long can you hold a plank?"
In my case, about 20 or 30 seconds, but I'm not a regular practitioner.
Wall-sitting seems to be another efficient exercise that engages a lot of muscle tissue in time under tension.
For those who actually do any kind of physical exercise, what do you like to do and which ones do you find to be efficient (short time needed for good results)?
I can hold a plank for 3+ min. Not bad for 66. 🙂
@mchill saidThat is truly a great time holding a plank for sure, especially at 66!

Do you do sets of them or just the one time which would be great anyways? How many years you been doing them? You must have a very strong core. For the record you have me beat! 😉

I don't do sets of them. Below is one of my workouts, please don't be deceived by the eye candy instructor, this is pretty tough. I've been doing this, and others like it for about 8 years. 🙂

@mchill saidAppears to be an hour long. Will have to wait until I have that long free time to look at it may even give it a go myself, to appreciate how difficult it may be. ( Yes, the instructor is easy on the eyes) 😉

My longest holding a plank is about 3 minutes at my peek shape and I did 3 sets of them at that time. Sounds like you are in good shape. I know guys and gals, half your age can't hold a plank for 3minutes plus. I did a plank for my family doctor as she didn't believe I could do them, she said you got me beat and I only did about a minute or so. She is roughly half my age. Her and her husband both work out.
Keep up the good work!
I'll see if I can add that video to this post

I can hold a plank for a good hour or so, just ask my wife 😁
Seriously though, I do recall seeing this doco on secrets to old age. A fit and healthy farmer from a third world country in his 90’s would go out daily to clear undergrowth by slashing with his machete whilst in a semi squatted position. The doc presenter tried it and became exhausted after only 15 mins.
Surely there is something to be said for regular incidental exercise under ones own weight, combined with a simple diet...

@very-rusty saidHa thanks. I mentioned to my wife and she said she has been meaning to say that she thinks we may have been doing the downward dog incorrectly as well
LOL......I don't think you'd be doing the plank correctly with your Wife...Funny just the same! 😉
