Say they are leaving a forum then return?
Nonsense.
Yes I thought so too until I experienced it at chess dot com where someone called Babytigrrr did just that said that she was going to leave the site cause she was getting hassled. It became self evident that it was merely a ploy to gather sympathy for her cause.

“If you disagree with something, it's easier to say 'you suck' than to figure out and explain exactly what you disagree with. You're also safe that way from refutation. In this respect trolling is a lot like graffiti. Graffiti happens at the intersection of ambition and incompetence: people want to make their mark on the world, but have no other way to do it than literally making a mark on the world.” ~Paul Graham

But wait, haven't a high proportion of your forum posts/pastes addressed to and/or aimed at divegeetser this last year or so amounted to little more than "you suck"?

I've always assumed that thumbs down indicate disapproval or disagreement, and thumbs up signify the opposite.

Agree; however, the dramatic disparity between these two approval/disapproval site forum options is the focal point of this interim update.

I think it's a positive thing that posters can indicate disapproval of or disagreement with stuff that's posted. I think it's an exercise of free speech that should be welcomed.

Some months ago, someone pointed out on a thread about Thumbs on the SF that I had received one thumbs down for every single post of mine stretching back 15 pages in the postings archive ~ including my contributions to word games.

I myself have no complaint about it ~ indeed, I think it's rather funny. It's still going on, as far as I can see.

Do you think all those thumbs down I received were the work of an "Internet troll"?

Was going to write cheddar, but for some inexplicable reason Gorgonzola has more gravitas in the humour department. (In a more high brow joke i would of course have used Camembert),

Why are we talking about cheese?

Perhaps, if i wrote a poem about cardigans, everything would be okay in the world...

That would depend on my interest in Gorgonzola cheese throwing. One thing is for sure, if I had no interest in Gorgonzola throwing and saw two people throwing Gorgonzola each other in a manner clearly indicating that they were both happy doing so, I wouldn't get in between them and question their motives.
